Curriculum Enhancement
The PTSA Curriculum Enhancement team organizes experiences that extended the learning through offsite and classroom field trip experiences, performers and speakers.
Upcoming CE Events
Tue Oct 14- Kindergarteners will travel to Remlinger Farms to visit with farm animals and experience the Fall harvest season.
Fri Oct 24- 1st graders travel to Fox Hollow Farm for pumpkin picking and a visit with the animals.

Kindergarten Noodle Night this Friday
Kindergarten parents! Noodle Night Potluck is Friday, October 17th. Come join us for dinner, fun crafts and activities and get to meet other Kindergarten families and your child's new friends!
When: Friday, October 17th, 6-7:30 pm
Where: Spiritridge Multipurpose Room
Who: All Kindergarten families, siblings and close family members too!
Please bring: A noodle-based dish to share  Any type of noodle is fine - Italian pasta, Asian noodles, European pierogies, etc.. Please no nuts, and consider labeling any allergens in the dish for the families with food allergies (dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, fish & shellfish).

This is not a drop off event. A parent or a responsible adult needs to be present.

Volunteer help for Vision screening at School. 
The school Vision screenings will be on Thursday, October 23rd 9:00 - 1:00 The school nurse Eileen Crispin is seeking 8-10 parent volunteers to assist with screenings, escorting students from class, recording results, and managing students in and out of the screening. Volunteer times are flexible, stay as long as you are able. Please sign up here and meet with school nurse Eileen Crispin when you arrive. 

Pumpkin & a Poem October 24th
Please join us from 6-8pm on Friday, 10/24, for our annual PTSA sponsored "Pumpkin and A Poem" event!  Bring your own pumpkins (gutted at home strongly preferred), carving tools, and a dessert, fruit, or snack to share, and have fun carving pumpkins with friends, while meeting other Spiritridge families.  Students are encouraged to read or sing either known Halloween poems or songs or their own original Halloween poems or songs (optional).   Come join the fun on 10/24!  An adult must stay with the kids, this is not a drop-off event.
Night Get Ready for a Spooky Skate Night! 
Calling all bats and ghouls! Get a group of your spookmates together for A Spiritridge Haunted Skate Night. Wednesday, Oct. 29 6:00--8:00 p.m. at Skate King.  Watch for more info in upcoming newsletters.
Spiritridge Staff Appreciation Efforts 2014-15
This year, the Spiritridge PTSA is trying a new approach, where Staff Appreciation efforts are spread out across the entire school year. On Wednesday October 22nd, Third Grade Families will be hosting a Staff Appreciation Breakfast for Spiritridge Teachers and Staff. The Third Grade signup can be found here: Thank you to third grade families for helping to kick off this program! More information will be coming (via Panther Parents) for other grade-led events. AMC8 at Spiritridge
The AMC8 is a global competition, sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America to foster mathematical interest and talent in problem
-solving in a timed format. 
On Tuesday, Nov 18, Spiritridge Math Enrichment Program (MEP) will administer the AMC8 exam at the school more details available here. In order to provide adequate proctoring we need to know how many students plan to participate. Please fill out the survey here. 

Walkathon Wrapup
The current total raised is $33,765!  Great job, Panthers!  If you still have a pledge sheet to turn in, bring it to school this week!

The key chain order, for students that raised $100 dollars or more, will be placed this week.  When the order arrives, the key chains will be sent home with students. 

A special thank you to our community sponsors that made this event so special!  Crossroads QFC donated $50 for apples served at the Walkathon.  Eastgate Domino's Pizza donated pizzas to the class that raised the most money (Mrs. Frieden's class).  Redmond Dairy Queen donated the ice cream cake to Mrs. Frieden's class for the party celebrating their big win.  The Seattle Seahawks ProShop donated the Max Unger signed football prize.  Crossroads Peaks Frozen Yogurt donated 3 $10 gift cards for the students that raised the most money and collected the most pledges in the school.  They also donated free frozen yogurt cards to the entire participating student body!  Overlake Menchie's also donated free frozen yogurt cards to the entire student body!  Eastgate Starbucks donated coffee for the parent volunteers.  

Also, a HUGE thank you to the amazing Spiritridge families that volunteered at this event!  Thank you to Cat Snyder for being the Walkathon Treasurer and to Kelli Lewis for designing the "Walking on Sunshine" logo and organizing the t-shirt order.  Thank you to Jocelyn Johnson, Tokiko Poppe, Marcy Laughter, Jennifer Harris. Bellevue School District News
New Graduation Requirement Forums

BSD has established and advisory committee to evaluate new graduation requirements beginning with the class of 2019.  A series of forums will be held Oct. 14 and 16 to review findings and answer questions. More information here.

BSD has scheduled a series of learning session on topics related to students and Special Education. Seven sessions on various topics are being offered throughout the year. You can choose to attend all seven or just the ones that best fit your interests. Learn more...
