Structurae Newsletter - 10/2014
Newsletter for Structurae, the database for the civil engineer!

Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

Jörg Schlaich, who has actually been a fan of Structurae for many years now, will be celebrating his 80th birthday on October 17th. He is one of the most renown German civil engineers and has been influencing the profession for more than five decades like no other. His works are admired by civil engineers around the world and have been an inspiration for myself since college. In fact, they are one of the reasons why I created Structurae. In the name of the entire Structurae team I'd like to congratulate Jörg Schlaich and use this e-mail to show you why Jörg Schlaich is considered a structural artist by many.

Best wishes from Berlin,
Nicolas Janberg

Structures by Jörg Schlaich

The works shown here are only a small part of what Jörg Schlaich has created and built around the world. Even the quite extensive list of works on Structurae is unlikely to be exhaustive. The lightness of his often award-winning designs are just one element of the design aesthetics that permeate all his works. As recently as March 2014 his design for the Gänsebach Viaduct for a new high-speed rail line won the German Bridge Award 2014.
