Calling all members and friends ….

Living Springs
Mission Vision Celebration
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19

9:15-10:30am (between services)

Congregational Meeting (with constitution update vote)
will be held at 10:20.

Special Note from Pastor Eric ….

Since the beginning of our Mission Vision Process last fall, the Spirit has been working some powerful things among us here at Living Springs.   The upcoming Mission Vision gathering is a very important event in the life of our congregation, and we are asking every member and friend of Living Springs to attend!   We truly believe that God has spoken to us through the Mission Vision process to give us direction for the upcoming years of our ministry together, just as God has been guiding us through the past quarter-century.  Mark Stuart has prepared an introductory DVD, along with slide show and PowerPoint – and there will be various disciples sharing their stories.  It is important that every member of the Living Springs family be informed and up-to-date on our Mission Vision details.   Let’s pack the fellowship hall from 9:15-10:30, as we hear more about Mission Visionaries, Spirit-tug Groups, and how the Spirit is inviting each of us to personally live out the vision for God’s mission in our daily lives!   (Also, don’t forget:  we’ll conclude by convening our congregation meeting at 10:20 and taking a 1st vote on our constitutional updates).

NOTE:  The brunch and baked goods are being provided as part of the celebration, but they are just an added piece.  Even if you do not wish to eat, it is important for you and your family to be present.   We ask that everyone RSVP via the narthex sign-up or the on-line invitation you receive (or simply call the office).  If you are not eating, that’s OK – simply indicate that you are attending and 0 will be eating.   To confirm your household attendance, please call the church office (736-0661), or sign-up in the narthex, or respond to your on-line invitation.  Please confirm by October 15.

Sign Up to Bring Baked Goods For Mission Vision Brunch

We are excited to have Mrs. Laura Cunningham, our Living Springs Food Resource person, to provide the main quiche dish for our brunch - but we don't want to miss out on the wonderful baked goods that of our congregation provide at congregational meals.  Please sign up in the Narthex (or call the office) to provide your favorite breakfast breads and sweet rolls.

Lessons for October 12

First Reading: Isaiah 25:1–9

After a hymn of praise acknowledging God as a shelter for the poor, the prophet portrays a wonderful victory banquet at which death—which in ancient Canaan was depicted as a monster swallowing everyone up—will be swallowed up forever. The prophet urges celebration of this victory of salvation.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 23

You prepare a table before me, and my cup is running over. (Ps. 23:5)

Second Reading: Philippians 4:1–9

Though writing from prison and facing an uncertain future, Paul calls on the Philippians to rejoice and give thanks to God no matter what the circumstance. God's peace is with us and binds together our hearts and minds in Jesus Christ, especially when things around us do not seem peaceful.

Gospel: Matthew 22:1–14

Jesus tells a parable indicating that the blessings of God's kingdom are available to all, but the invitation is not to be taken lightly.
