What an exciting week here at St. Mary's!  Grandparent's day was incredible.  It's events like this that make me so very proud to be a part of this amazing community!  A big thanks to our students, staff and volunteers for putting together such a great day!  A huge thank you to Mrs. Hodgson for putting together a great music program.

Chemical reactions occur all the time, including through everyday activities such as cooking. Try adding an acid such as vinegar to a base such as baking soda and see what happens!
"But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it."
Luk 11:28
Gage baked four cakes yesterday, out of which he ate quarter of a cake. Today he baked one more cake. Which of these represents the number of cakes with him?

Reminder: There are several students who have not sent in their form for the ALL SCHOOL field trip on Tuesday.  We must have the form Monday in order for your child to participate.  Thank you.
Kindergarten: We worked with the letter A this week, we also met the firemen--and had lunch with some of them.  Grandparents Day was Friday and was that Awesome!  Looking forward to our "All School Trip" next Tuesday!

Grade 1: This week first grade worked with the short /i/ sound in reading.  We read a story about how we grow and change and also read about how animals grow and change.
In math we were introduced to addition equations and learned to write them ourselves.
We were very excited to have our grandparents and special friends here on Friday for mass, lunch and a concert!

Grade 2: The second graders have had a busy week.  We went on a field trip to SWELL and observed many Autumn changes under the guidance of Ranger Randee.  Some highlights for us include finding wooly caterpillars, using binoculars, having s'mores in the log cabin and playing the camoflauge game.  We also enjoyed spending time with our grandparents and performing for them for our Grandparents Day celebration.

Grade 3: We had a busy week preparing for Grandparent’s Day and are happy so many were able to come and spend the day with us on Friday.  We thank the Morris firemen who came and talked to us about fire safety and conducted a school fire drill as well.  In math we worked with measuring, perimeter, parallel and perpendicular lines, and identifying and drawing quadrilaterals.  We are looking forward to our all School trip to Walnut Grove next Tuesday.

Grade 4: This week in reading we are reading the fictional story "The Astronaut and the Onion". We are focusing on analyzing character traits to help us understand the story. In math we are learning how to use tables to make combinations. Our Flat Stanley's are officially travelling and we cannot wait to hear from them and update you on their adventures! We loved spending time with our grandparents and special friends this past week!

Grade 5: This week in 5th grade, we continued to work on simple and complete subjects and predicates. We reviewed the math concepts that we have learned this far this year. We are continuing the read On the Banks of Plum Creek preparing for our field trip to Walnut Grove next week. We are very excited!!!
