Millage Paving

Start Date: Week of August 11, 2014
Expected Completion: Fall of 2014

Streets to be paved this week:
  • Todd, from Smith to Barnes
  • Linval, from Mt. Hope to Baker
Remaining streets to pave this fall:
  • Pacific, from Roberts to Lyons
  • Pierce, from Christiansen to MLK
Lenawee, from Grand to Cherry, may be delayed until next spring. With winter quickly approaching, Operations and Maintenance must start to attach the snow plow blades to their trucks.

O&M's trucks are used for multiple tasks. During the spring, summer and early fall, O&M uses their trucks to repair roads and sewers. In the winter, the trucks are used to plow streets and spread salt. In mid to late October, O&M installs plow blades and salt boxes in preparation for winter. If poor weather delays the paving for Pierce and Pacific, Lenawee will be rescheduled for next spring.

Sewer Siphon #11 Replacement Project

Start Date: May 12, 2014
Expected Completion: November 2014

The contractor is working north and south of the river to complete construction of the large, cast-in-place concrete structures ("manholes") that allow access to the newly constructed sewer siphon. Construction of the siphon itself under the Red Cedar River channel is complete.

After construction of the new sections of the large diameter, downstream sewer is complete, restoration of the roadway, river trail and parkway will begin.

The Beech Street Bridge and the block of E. Elm Street north of the bridge will remain closed to all traffic until completion of the project in November.  Progress updates will be provided in this newsletter.
