So much to celebrate!

On October 2nd, I was privileged to participate in one of Wycliffe's scripture celebrations.  This was a highlight of the season as we celebrated 17 scripture translations being completed in languages all over the world.

Carrying the flag from one of the countries not only reminded me of the partnership in the work that you and I both share with our brothers and sisters around the world, but was also a tangible expression of joining together to celebrate the finished work!  Of course, now that the scriptures are translated, the work is just beginning!

Our Source of Hope - Wycliffe USA's brief blog summary on the Celebration, including the languages of scriptures translated!  For my mid-Atlantic friends, believe it or not, Pennsylvania Dutch was one of the translations that we celebrated!

So much still to do!

The past month has been busy - interviewing applicants for internships next year, researching overseas teams and needs where they can fill a critical role, and planning strategic meetings with our partners from Liberty University-- happening tomorrow and Friday!

As I interviewed one applicant, he said: I am considering long term translation work because of Psalm 61:1, which says, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me, to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed." I believe that the Truth and Freedom that I have experienced through Christ has the power to set the captives free.  It would be an honor for me to be a part of that kind of emancipation among a people that have never experienced that Truth in their lives before. - S.B. headed to Papua New Guinea in January.

3 words & 1 month debriefs...

During our on-field debrief with the S. Asia team, each participant gave 3 words to describe their experience.
Here are the words they shared.

Since being back, we've had the opportunity to do 1-month phone debriefs with each of the team members.

One student shared, "I'm realizing that everyone has their own story. No matter where they are or what they are doing, their story is one that God is writing."

What else has been going on the past month?

Bottom pics: So thankful to spend a couple of days with my cousin Roberta, and my Aunt Nina and Uncle Jimmy and their family in South Florida!  Family is truly a special blessing.
