We'll see you all in the Spring!!

Who's Cocooning Now?

Mason bee cocoons.  These are from our back yard and also Grand Boulevard Park (which were installed by the Boy Scouts). Each of these cocoons were washed in an 1% alcohol bath and stored in our fridge.

Another box of box of future Mason bees. This is extremely rewarding to see this type of activity. In the end, we had approximately 100 cocoons.

It was so exciting to open this box and see the one row of leaf cutter bee cocoons.  They were all so nice and neatly placed in a row.

A New Native Bee Garden in the District

On May 6, there was a grand opening of a new Native Bee Garden in the District of North Vancouver.  This area had been an overgrown, unsightly area on Capilano Road,
just south of Ridgewood Drive.

The project was jointly funded by the District, Great Canadian and the shop keepers in Edgemont Village.

At the grand opening, Ric also installed one of our native bee nesting boxes.
Below is the link to the quick 2 minute video that Great Canadian Landscaping made of the new site, which is obviously a success by the bees on the flowers!!
