Phase II on the way!

On October 1st, 2014, BioFuelNet’s Board of Directors adopted a set of recommendations that will streamline BFN’s research program into BioFuelNet Phase II. Phase II offers an opportunity for BFN to optimize its research structure, improve interactions with partners, and more effectively work towards the goal of a thriving advanced biofuel industry in Canada.

The planning of Phase II took shape through a robust consultative process involving multiple committees and stakeholders over the past 9 months. Phase II covers the second half of BioFuelNet’s mandate (the period of April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017).

BioFuelNet’s Phase II structure involves 10 focused projects and 6 Task Forces that ensure the integration of multi-disciplinary expertise across the value chain. More details about the Phase II structure, task forces and projects can be found on the Phase II webpage.

If you’d like to apply to have your project funded under BFN’s Phase II, stay tuned for an announcement about a new call for proposals, which is scheduled to launch on November 1st, 2014.
BioFuelNet 2014 Annual Report hot off the press

BFN has been working hard on the production of our 2014 Annual Report, which details all the progress the network has made in the last year. We’ve included some beautiful original photos from BFN researchers from across the country at work in the field and lab, and we’ve also showcased some notable BFN projects. Thanks to all those who contributed, and please take a look to see what we’ve been up to!
BioFuelNet-CRIBIQ East Platform Retreat

In preparation to BioFuelNet Phase II, the East Platform is organizing a retreat in Orford, QC from November 26-27, 2014, in collaboration with the CRIBIQ. As Phase II is going to be increasingly oriented towards partnerships with industry, the goal of the event is for BioFuelNet researchers to showcase to industry their capacities in terms of R&D and technology transfer. The retreat aims to bring together researchers and industry from the eastern part of the country facilitating potential new partnerships and collaborations. Preliminary program available here.
