Annual fundraising event held Tuesday, October 7 raised over $720,000 for compassionate HIV/AIDS care at Casey House

Presented by TD Bank Group, Casey House's Art With Heart once again brought together the Canadian contemporary art community on October 7 at The Carlu. The evening raised over $720,000, bringing the total raised at Art With Heart events over 20 years to beyond $6 million for compassionate HIV/AIDS health care at Casey House.
Bidding was enthusiastic for the contemporary art collection presented Tuesday night at the Carlu. Carefully curated by a dedicated and skilled volunteer committee of art collectors and gallerists, the collection once again garnered praise and lots of buzz during the preview week at Waddington’s Auctioneers. Auctioneers Stephen Ranger and Perry Tung skilfully wielded the gavel as the collection generated approximately 30% above estimate. This year marked Ranger's 20th Art With Heart, for which Casey House is very grateful.

Always a high point, catering by Daniel et Daniel featured a tempting menu including braised short ribs, ravioli, pickerel with a yellow tomato sauce, chicken roulade with smoked apples, and a swiss chard, mascarpone & wild mushroom galette. Later, patrons seated at the auction were treated to comfort food: fried chicken biscuits, mini mushroom pizzas and artisanal Neopolitan marshmallows.

Works by April Hickox, Nicotye Samayualie and Diana Thorneycroft were matched by Rogers, Norton Rose Fulbright and TD Bank Group respectively, generating yet more funds for compassionate HIV/AIDS care at Casey House.

This year's Gallery of Patrons Limited Edition, sponsored by Urbacon, is by the collaborative duo Nicholas Pye and Sheila Pye. Patrons were able to purchase limited editions of fifteen of each of the four photographs in the photograph series "Unspoiled," a body of work that evolved out of a desire to ‘perform’ Nicholas and Sheila’s shared personal bond using the territories of nature and landscape. Art With Heart is Casey House’s biggest single fundraiser each year. It is a significant source of funding for our community program, which sends nurses into people’s homes to ensure that they’re getting their medication and that their health is stable. It also provides nurses on the Sherbourne Health Bus who bring a specialized approach to health care for people who are marginalized and street-involved. Donor generosity enables additional services at Casey House, including social work and recreational and massage therapies, to address the complex health needs and isolation that so many of our clients experience.
