Greetings!

Okay, so it's not as warm as it has been. But at least the sun is out, and living here we all know it could be worse. Sure, it is a bit on the cool side, but you know what that means. Why, it is just perfect weather to head out and enjoy the food and wine at Fratello's!  We will be featuring this weekend Opah Fish, Mahi-mahi from Hawaii and Rack of Lamb. Plus all your Fratello favorites like Veal and Shrimp and Chicken and Clams and Mussels and Pasta and Calamari and Eggplant and...will be available as well. We'd love to see ya'!

As for the wine world, in recent emails I have suggested you try different varietals of wine to enjoy with your meal, like Grenache and Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Sangiovese. Another of my favorite grapes is Syrah, which I think works especially well with our menu. Syrah is grown throughout the world, from France to Spain, Australia to California, Washington to Italy, and we have Syrah based wines from all these regions. Wines that come to mind include Atteca from Spain, Abstract from California, Cannonau from Italy, Shiraz from Australia, and straight Syrah from Napa. Off list I have a very affordable wine from California made by a winemaker from Oregon, Hawks View, who make the excellent Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley that we also feature on our board. Among what I love about this grape is its versatility and variety, ranging from the more fruit intensive wines of California and especially Australia, to the much more muted and complex flavors that come from Spain and France. I love the grape, and I hope you'll consider trying a Shiraz with your dinner this weekend.
