• IFL is a great PD opportunity for educators who work with adult learners at diverse learning levels, especially with learners who struggle in typical classrooms. 
• IFL makes the content of your learning programs more accessible by helping instructors understand better how to match learning tasks to learners’ current capacity. 
• To date, fifteen agencies and well over 100 staff have seen gains for their adult learners as a result of IFL. 

• Introduction to Integrating Foundation Learning: Oct 28 from 9 to 12 at FESA or Oct 29 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at CNIB
• Introduction to Facilitation: Nov 4 from 9 to 12 at Saddletowne Library or Nov 12 from 1:30 to 4:40 pm at CNIB (for newer facilitators)
• Advanced Facilitation:  Nov 18 from 9 to 12 at Saddletowne Library or Nov 26 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at CNIB
• Plain Language: Nov 25 from 9 to 12 at Saddletowne Library or Dec 3 from 1:30 to 4:40 pm at CNIB
• Evaluation: Dec 2 from 9 to 12 at Saddletowne Library or Dec 10 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at CNIB

• Literacy and Essential Skills Mentor to support program
• Customized workshops

• A minimum of 2 staff members (consistent) must attend all workshops (exception: the Intro to Facilitation course is for staff who have little facilitation experience.)
• Apply for a mentor in November. There are 10 mentorships available.
• Organizations will be notified in December if they will receive a mentor
• Work directly with your mentor in 2015 for a minimum of 20 hours
• Receive customized workshops from the IFL facilitator at your agency
• Present your IFL experience at a conversation cafe and publish a case study

• Learning Champion for an educator/facilitator or program designer who makes a great contribution to community-based adult foundational learning and supports the essential skills development in learners.
• Learning Communities for a learning program/project that stands out in innovation, effectiveness and breadth of reach into the adult foundational learning community.

Volunteers needed

The proceeds from the Casino help Calgary Learns further support the Adult Foundational Learning Community.
