Lesson 429: The Burden of My Heart Rolled Away
Fanny Crosby was blind from the age of 6 weeks, yet she wrote over 8,000 Christian hymns.
She was saved during an invitation hymn “At the Cross” written by Isaac Watts in 1707.
The line “the burden of my heart rolled away” reminds us of the stone outside the empty tomb.
We cannot serve God well when we carry around a load of guilt. Satan brings accusations against us for our sins, but we are declared “not guilty” by the blood of the Lamb.
Rev.12:10-11 Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb
Col.1:19-22 in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
