Winter drawers on!
The clocks have gone back, the leaves are falling thick and fast and autumn is soon to turn into winter. We have enjoyed this autumn, the colours of the trees, the mild temperatures and we are (relatively) well prepared for the winter ahead.
Guests have also been enjoying the yurts at this time of year a different feel to the long warm summer days. Only now are we noticing people to really start using the log burners!
The yurts will remain open for bookings over Christmas & New Year for those looking for a woodland winter retreat!

Bentley Wood Fair
We had our best ever Wood Fayre in September at Bentley. The weather was spectacular and people came in the droves over the three days. Rod Hughes’ bronze casting demo’s were a great draw - and as always much fun was had by all. We very much look forward to next year’s event. (Let's hope they don’t run out of beer again…!)

Forest Garden Christmas Fayre 2014
We are now making preparations for our Christmas Fayre, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November 2014. From 10am - 5.00pm
|

We will have demonstrations of Green woodworking and also Rod Hughes will be with us, demonstrating the art of bronze making. Diana Coldman will be running holistic taster sessions in Kushti yurt and we will have wreath making and candle dipping.
With more stalls than ever, including pre-loved clothes, brocante, honey, jams and jellies, fabrics, hand knitted children’s clothes, jewellery, wooden craft items, we hope everyone will be able to find something to solve the eternal Christmas present search.
You can also buy a course for Christmas, from one of our many courses scheduled for next year.
Our Café will be selling delicious hot snacks, mulled wine and mince pies to keep the cold out around our roaring open fire pits.
So please come and join us once again and get in the Christmas spirit!

Our course list for 2015 is now up on our WEBSITE. You can either buy a course or purchase vouchers in multiples of £50 or £100 as an ideal Christmas present. Please contact us if you require any further information.

We have had a couple of great articles appear about Forest Garden Shovelstrode, one was in Sussex Life and the other in the English Garden. We would like to extend our thanks to both publications for the helpful exposure.

We ran our second Bronze casting course at the beginning of October. This was a 2 day course run by Rod Hughes. Participants all made some wonderful items and great fun was had by all.

As our season comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity in thanking all the people involved in Forest Garden Shovelstrode – the list is becoming rather long but they all know who they are and we are so grateful for their hard work and support.
|
|
|
We have had some wonderful guests and course attendees yet again this year, some who have become fully fledged bee keepers following their introduction to Beekeeping, others that have mastered stool making, hurdle making, bronze casting and some people who by now have a wonderful Clay oven at home having learnt the process with us.
|
|
|
We would like to wish all our guests and friends a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year and we do hope to see many of you back here some time very soon.
