We're glad to finally know the name of the new place opening up by the Sparrow/Mar's folks - The Letlove Inn. As one of our Facebook fans said, "Sounds speakeasy-ish." Perhaps, and we can't wait to see what they plan to offer the neighborhood. They hope to open by Thanksgiving. 27-20 23rd Ave., Astoria

One of the most talked about posts on We Heart Astoria this week was about the closing of Frankie's Pizza, which had been a staple in the neighborhood for 50 years. Rumors circulating say that Artichoke Pizza might open up there. Whoever owns the space (22-56 31st St) is currently renovating it (as per the sign on the door), so we'll see what happens. Many Astorians would like to see it remain a pizza joint, too.

We were also sorry to hear that LIC stalwart Communitea is closing; Sunday, October 26 will be their last day. They are closing because of lease issues, and we wonder what will go in there in its place. It's a hot location, and we expect they are charging a bundle for rent.

Last week we showed you all the spooky decorations in the front yard of the 28th Street house, and be sure to check in with our big list of ways to celebrate Halloween in Astoria and LIC. We also put together a piece full of sweet Halloween treats from bakeries around the neighborhood. So much yum, so much yum!

Just a short time until Queens Restaurant Week is no more! This celebration of the great food in Queens goes til Halloween. Western Queens is chock full of participating restaurants, including Astor Room, Bowery Bay, Il Falco, Singlecut, Via Vai, and more. In general, dinner is $25 and lunch is $14. This could be a great way to get to know a restaurant you've never been to, or revisit an old favorite.
