Good Governance for Nonprofits and the IRS Form 990 - NET Workshop

November 20, 2014 9 AM to Noon
CraftWorks at Cool Spring
1469 Lloyd Road
Charles Town, WV 25414
Presented by Olivia Hutton of Yount, Hyde, and Barbour

During the past few years, the IRS brought the idea of good governance to the forefront of discussion among charitable organizations. Sweeping changes have taken place and the IRS Form 990 has been revised in an effort to make certain all nonprofits comply with the law.  Why is the IRS worried about governance issues and requiring organizations to report more information on Form 990?  What are the primary issues that the IRS cares about?  What do these issues mean for you, your board and your organization?

Plan to spend the morning of November 20th with us at CraftWorks in Cool Spring in Jefferson County at the Nonprofit Education & Training (NET) Workshop “Good Governance for 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organizations and the IRS Form 990” Join CPA Olivia Hutton, Principal of Yount Hyde & Barbour from 9 AM until Noon for a discussion regarding what road the IRS (and Congress) may take in enforcing good governance procedures, and how to protect charitable organizations from IRS good governance examinations. In the end, this workshop will help you understand the emphasis on good governance and prepare for the more in depth reporting requirements for Form 990.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will have a better understanding of the emphasis on good governance for nonprofit organizations and be better prepared for the more in depth reporting requirements for Form 990.
