Council Fire vs Holston Hills
Congratulations to the Council Fire team for winning at Holston this past week.  It is only the second time that a team has won on the road in the matches.  Council Fire was paced by Tal Abernathy-Jim Sanko and Matt Brown-Bill Butler who each won 3 points.  We now lead the matches by 9 - 6!

TURF TALK with Gary Weller
So far everything is going according to plan this fall. A few updates on what's going on around the course. We have now completed edging all bunkers and irrigation heads. We have also completed our second and final pigment dye application to the tees and fairways. Remember the pigment is not considered a paint, therefore if will fade over time. Our goal for these applications are to have slight contrast between the fairways and roughs during the winter. You may have noticed an area roped off in front of #8 tee; we have developed another sink hole it will soon be repaired.

As the temperatures start to drop, it will be time to put our green covers back out. Again they will be placed behind the greens, hopefully out of play. Our guideline in covering greens is when the predicted low temperature is going to be 25°F or less and the next day highs are only going to be in the upper thirties or low forties. It is important to cover the greens early to trap the heat that is in the soil profile, so we will normally start covering in early afternoon.

The upper driving range tee has come in very well and we should be able to use it the first week of November.  As soon as we make the move, we will be seeding the lower level.  Next week we will be starting the project on #9 to remove the old cart path. After that is completed, we will start on the drainage issue on #6 and some irrigation repairs.  As we head into the winter months, just remember that also holds the potential for frost delays, so always check with the Pro Shop prior to getting on the course.

Hope you all have Great Holiday Season!
