From orange to lime and painted

When Traditional Painter for Lancashire, Jason, had a call from the wife of a car body specialist and they wanted their orange pine furniture painted "properly", this is what Jason, the hand painted furniture specialist produced.

The chairs were hand painted and finished in Helmi matt.

The orange pine table top was "limed" but not as you might expect. Yes, it was sanded and prepared and lacquered ready, but the rest of the process was not out the conventional lime paste book.

Once prepared, the glaze was brushed on evenly and layed off.

I then charged a short stubby brush with some glaze and drew the brush through the glaze to create this effect.

The table top has been protected with several coats of very tough lacquer and the base was prepared and painted to match the chair set.

Needless to say, the car body craftsman was very impressed.

Each to their own of course. The trend for chalk paint has opened up many possibilities for homeowners to have a go at producing very good makeovers of one-off pieces. And the makeover shows have whetted the appetite for hand painting orange pine. (This step by step still attracts over 13000 page views a month)

Where trends can get the public in trouble is when they underestimate the time to complete a big suite of furniture, or there is a piece of valuable furniture on the line.

Where a project looks very time-consuming or there is too much at stake for a "let's have a go, how hard can this be...?" it is probably time to call on a true professional.  Jason in the NW, Martin in the W Midlands, Russ in the Notts, Derby, Leics areas and  Traditional Painters throughout the country.

Wetherspoons wall art

Martin Dunn, Matt and Dan of the W Midlands posse went down to paper twelve walls in the bedrooms of a Wetherspoons establishment varying in size from 3m - 6m width and a height of 3.4m.

All the paper murals were supplied with accompanying photos of how they should look when complete and a plan of the rooms.

They all went up a treat even though the site itself was disorganised chaos, as usual. Martin Dunn wallpapering artist

Where the designer at Wetherspoon stopped, Lee started.

This is where conscientious wins the day. Stripping these doors back was absolutely not part of the plan, but when it is the right thing to do, what can you do!  A slow round of appalls to the last kitchen painter who made this all possible?

Talking 64, a reminder of 64 doors hand painted in Hertfordshire.

No tricks just treats

Not my headline, I just work the keys. MyPaintbrush continue to bring the decorating world what it wants and needs, not what the decorator merchant buyers have traditionally rammed down our throats.

MPB brought you the star British brush, the original Fox and now * the Silver Fox, and not forgetting the star US original game changer brush, the Picasso which Andy Cherry introduced to the UK market proper, back in the day. Often copied, but MPB have innovation in their blood.

And back to the title of this piece...

Flying around the home of the Fox, is like being a kid in a candy store for decorating fans. Till the end of the month, you can also get sweets.

Enjoy a different view

Richard in East Anglia enjoys the view from the window of a recent kitchen he was hand -painting.

Well, maybe a slight exaggeration, high tide and his work would probably be floating, but you get the idea. Lovely location, and a high five for the end result.

The backside of the door

It seems so obvious, to paint both sides of a cupboard door.

Adam in Ireland has a few words to say about that!

When customer "reviews" blow you away

Russell Woodland covers Essex and "his" side of London. He restored new life into sash windows that hadn't been touched since the 30's, and then were all but wrecked by the previous contractors who didn't know what they were doing. On completion, he received a testimonial, the likes of which he has never received before. He was not only thanked for turning the whole job around, but for breathing new life into the property and everyone in it. Russell has been plying his craft for a lot of years, and a humbler "painter" I doubt you will find.

Well spotted, Ben, front door mastery in USA

Paints and Interiors carry many top grade paint products, and Keim organic paints are living proof that being dear is far from a deterrent. Clients looking for the breathability of lime wash and the performance of a masonry paint that chemically bonds to the bare substrate it has been applied to, are seeing the benefits in droves.
