Lesson 434: Living Sacrifices
Old Testament animal sacrifices temporarily covered the sins of the Jews. But the blood of animals could not permanently atone for the sin of the world.
Heb.10:4 it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
So God sent His Son to die in our place, as the once-for-all sacrifice to completely remove the guilt for all believers.
Rom.6:10 the death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
Heb.10:8-10 “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings”, then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.”… by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
1 John 4:10 In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
God no longer desires dead sacrifices. Now God calls us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to do His will.
Rom.12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship
1 Cor.6:20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
