Lesson 438: God’s Provision Enables Holiness, Pt.2
We can sacrifice daily our whole life, but we can never make ourselves holy. God’s requirement for holiness is much higher than our best efforts.
We can only be holy by God’s provision. That’s the point! The words holy and pleasing / acceptable to God are not conditions we have to satisfy before God will accept us.
They are the fruits of His mercy. Holy and acceptable don’t describe what we will be; they declare what we already are in Christ.
Because of what Christ did at the cross, God declares us to be holy and acceptable to Him.
Offering ourselves as a sacrifice does not make us holy; God has already made us holy.
This is what enables us to avoid conforming to the world.
God’s provision is so powerful that if our minds grasp this, our lives will be transformed.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
