Sugar-free Mingle: Business is more than "The Apprentice"

We often hear the words ‘Entrepreneurship…you mean like that show The Apprentice?’ Given that the 10th series of The Apprentice has just begun, we thought this was the perfect time to address this topic head on! You don’t have to be like Alan Sugar or an Apprentice candidate to be an entrepreneur!

So on Tuesday November 4th at the Atrium in the School of Management, we'll be joined by three entrepreneurs who do things differently:

Josh Barnett, Cardiff Met SU's President and founder of Treatment Clothing.

David Le Masurier, owner of Pettigrew Tea Rooms

Elin Rees, founder of Elin Rees PR

So even if you're not a cross between Ghandi and the Wolf of Wall Street, you can book a place now by emailing us and letting us know your dietary requirements. Whether the food will be "Sugar-Free" or not is yet to be confirmed...

Breakfast with a Sports Entrepreneur

On the first Wednesday of every month we have Breakfast with a Sports Entrepreneur (or two!)

In November, two entrepreneurial Cardiff Met graduates return to their old uni. Alex Bodin, the Director of Cardiff 7s and Paul Conway, Director of Crown Fitness Club

So join us on Wednesday 5th November from 8:30am to 10:30am at The Bench, Cyncoed Campus.

To book your place, email us

And remember, remember, the fifth of November! It could be the SPARK you need to get your business idea off the ground.

Be a mentor at Gig Arts

Gig Arts is an event that brings together University students with 16-18 year old college students from disadvantaged backgrounds for a one day challenge - to put on a great show to guests from the community.

It's coming to Cardiff this November and you could be involved as a mentor to college students. It's a brill thing to get involved in if you're interested in media, music or drama or want to gain valuable project management experience.

It'll all take place on the 12th November. There will also be a training session on the 5th November which you will be required to attend should you want to take part.

LaunchPad is launching!

This November it's Global Entrepreneurship Week (17th-23rd) and what better way to celebrate than a relaunch of LaunchPad, the student society for anyone interested in Entrepreneurship.

LaunchPad will be spreading the good word about all things related to starting your own business through online articles, events and its very own podcast.

Whether you want to get experience of marketing, management, journalism or event organising, get involved in LaunchPad right now.

Visit our LaunchPad page to find out more on how you can join in the fun! Or you can find it on Facebook and Twitter.

Steps to Entrepreneurship

We are now well underway with our Steps workshops which have been happening every Wednesday night from 4:30pm in 01.08 in Llandaff.

With three already under our belt, there's just two more workshops left.

The 4th workshop in the series is this Wednesday night. It's with Lee Sharma, founder of Simply Do (he used to work here too you know).

Send us an email if you'd like to book a place or find out more info.

Please Note: Steps to Entrepreneurship is not to be confused with Steps the band. For that would be a tragedy.
