Live with No Excuses
"Saving Face"
1 Samuel 13-15
The first of a two-part sermon on how God wants us to live with him. We conservative Christians often think God demands we live perfectly--no sin, no mistakes, no failures. But that's not what God wants from us.
Here in 1 Samuel, I believe we see what God wants from us. He wants us to live with no excuses...not like Saul...but like David...
FOR NEXT SUNDAY:1 Samuel 15, God rejects Saul

All Saints Sunday. Today we remember those members of our church who have died in the past year, since All Saints Sunday last year. “Saints†are all those who have been made holy to God through Jesus Christ, which are all Christians. We light a candle as we read each name. Also, a clipboard will be passed through the congregation on which you may write the names of those you are remembering today. We will read this list at our time of recognition. Together we grieve the loss of these loved ones, recognize their absence, and thank God for their lives, entrusting them now to his good and perfect will.
Bazaar. We will be holding our Bazaar on November 8th from 9am – 2pm. Do you have a small business? If so, would you be interested in setting up a table at our Bazaar? We will be setting up tables in the Upper Room for vendors. It is a great opportunity for small business owners, crafters, cooks, hobbyists, etc. to make a little money and to help out the church. Tell your friends and neighbors about the opportunity. Tables cost $10 and a donation worth $25 of your product to our Silent Auction. Please contact Jennifer Anderson, Jesse Barlow, Carol Catto, Joan Stewart, Jane Vanderleeuw or the church office for more info.
Bazaar Needs. Do you need a place to donate all those plastic and paper bags you have laying around? You can donate them to the Bazaar. Also, now is a good time to clean out your jewelry box, they are in need of jewelry in good condition. Take note the last day for bringing items in for the Bazaar will be October 31st.
Fish Box Collection for Hunger. Pick up a fish box and put it in a prominent place in your home and then collect your loose change and even bills through the next month. This is a special collection to fight world hunger through two great organizations: World vision and One Great Hour of Sharing. We will divide the money 50/50 between these two. Boxes are due back on November 9th.
Operation Christmas Child. We will once again be participating in Operation Christmas Child. This is a great ministry that spreads the joy of Christmas to children living in poverty around the world, and it’s a way to proclaim the Good News of Jesus! Filled boxes are due back on November 16th.
Praise Time has returned! Welcome to the new Praise Team members. The Team will be leading a time of worship from 10:35 – 11:00 on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Come, let us worship the Lord together.
Church Flowers. Church flowers are available every week for only $15.00 per bouquet. There is a sign-up sheet located on Deacon’s Table in Narthex. Please also notify Rosemary Hargreaves re your flower request.
