Hi Friend of Makom,

Wow!  Our first-ever Simhat Torah eve was amazing, with over 100 folks from Makom and Annex Shul coming together to celebrate the completion and renewal of the Torah.  Thanks to the the Kiever Synagogue, Sunflower Kitchen, and an anonymous donor for their generosity and to everyone who came for contributing your fantastic ruah (spirit).

If you came to Makom's Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur services, please take a couple minutes to fill out our short survey by this Thursday.  We want to know what YOU think!

If you joined us for High Holiday services but haven’t yet paid, please do so today so we can cover the many costs of running High Holiday services.  You can see suggested prices here and make your tax-deductible donation here.

Left your prayer book or sweater behind on Yom Kippur?  Please contact Rabbi Aaron ASAP so you can claim it.

Have a wonderful week,
Aaron & the Makom Leadership Team (Felicia, Louise, Miriam, and Ruth)

An OPEN CONVERSATION about ISRAEL

with DJ Schneeweiss – Israel's Consul General in Toronto – for Diverse Downtown Jewish Communities
Next Tuesday, Oct. 28
7:30-9:30pm
@ Miles Nadal JCC
– 750 Spadina Ave. & Bloor

This summer's conflict in Israel and Gaza has left many downtown Jews with questions and concerns surrounding both that conflict and Israel's ongoing relationship with Palestinians.  Our diverse downtown Jewish communities will come together for an evening of open, honest, and respectful questioning, listening, and learning with Israel's Consul General and each other.

In order to facilitate a thoughtful, substantive program, please arrive on time.

Presented by Annex Shul, City Shul, Danforth Jewish Circle, First Narayever Congregation, Makom: Creative Downtown Judaism & Congregation Shir Libeynu

Joyous SERVICES + Potluck Kosher Kiddush

Next Friday, Oct. 31
6pm doors open, 6:15 services start
@ The Kiever Synagogue – 25 Bellevue Ave.

We’ll end the week and welcome Shabbat with soulful, song-filled services, in which everyone can participate, in the beautiful, historic Kiever Synagogue.

Please bring a certified kosher food or drink to share for a light kiddush (snacking & schmoozing).

We need a minyan of 10 women + 10 men to start the ma`ariv service, so please try to come on time.  Both women and men lead services and there is a low partition between women's and men's seating; children are welcome on both sides.
