Society of Petroleum Engineers Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Student Challenge
We are pleased to invite University of Colorado Boulder to participate in the first‐ever Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Student Challenge presented by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)! The event will be held outside Denver, Colorado in association with the March 2015 E&P Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Conference – Americas.
This year we are seeking undergraduate student participants only. If you are interested in being a team captain or participant in this event and representing CU Energy and CU Boulder, please email CUenergy@colorado.edu with subject line HSSE Student Challenge by the end of the day this Thursday 10/23.

NREL Industry Growth Forum
Hello CU Energy Club Members,
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is hosting our annual Industry Growth Forum. It’s a premier clean tech startup event hosted October 28-29th this year. Investors, government members, corporations, and startup companies will all be attending.
We are looking for volunteers to help manage this event. College students with an interest in clean tech energy are preferred. Volunteers will be able to participate when their schedule permits.
As an additional benefit, we encourage students to network with professionals during this event. Any fees for participating will be comped for you.

ORAU Opportunity: Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship
ORAU is pleased to provide the information below regarding an opportunity available to all institutions. This notice is a service to ORAU Sponsoring and Associate Institutions. Please forward within your institution and broadly to colleagues as you feel appropriate.
The Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program provides students with an opportunity to gain and develop research skills with the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy for 10 weeks over the summer. For 20 years, this program has increased awareness of DOE research opportunities to students pursuing STEM degrees (short for science, technology, engineering and math). The goal of the program is to improve opportunities for women and minority students in these fields, however all eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university (sophomore or higher) or had a Ph.D. conferred on or after January 2, 2014; have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; be a U.S. citizen; and be at least 18 years of age. The deadline to apply is January 2, 2015.
