In the wake of the environment minister Elizabeth Truss’ comments that solar farms are ‘blighting’ the countryside, commentators from all sides of the fence have come forward. Guy Smith, vice president of the NFU and ‘proud solar farmer’ has called for a more ‘sober’ debate on the benefits and drawbacks of going solar. The CLA condemned Truss’ comments and the STA said that solar and farms go ‘hand in hand’. Elsewhere, Solar Power Portal spoke to the developer behind the proposed 2GW non-UK CfD solar project in Tunisia who said that it would boost, not harm UK solar. All this and much more can be found in today’s newsletter.
