We are loving October here at Gaelforce Events. We had the most amazing autumn day for The Great Fjord Swim and now the entries are flooding in for Turf Warrior on Nov 1st!

Top 3 facts you might want to know about the Turf Warrior Challenge:

1. 27,564 litres of pure Connemara mud are contained within the course (roughly). At least 4 litres will go home with each competitor.
2. We do not charge extra for parking, spectators, storing your valuables, food at the finish line or the party afterwards, unlike some events...
3. Nothing you do will ever be as much fun again and so other events in your life might be slightly spoiled by you having taken part in Turf Warrior.

1. Turf Warrior Challenge November 1st 2014 - entry still open

This is it! The Grand Finale of the season. The Turf Warrior Challenge is less than two weeks away but there is still time to get a gang together and give us a call on 095 42006 for group discounts. Online entry remains open until 3pm on Friday 31st October.

Killary Adventure Centre is also offering race entry, 2 nights B&B, 1 dinner, and entry into the after-party all for only €120.00pps. As this is the location of the start and finish lines and the party there is nowhere closer to stay!

2. From Gaelforce to Atacama

We want to congratulate Ruthann Sheahan, a past Gaelforce competitor who has just completed the Atacama Crossing in Chile crossing the finish line as the 3rd woman home. What an amazing achievement, we are in awe. She brought her 2011 Turf Warrior buff with her as you can see from the photo above!!

3. Brand Spanking New!

We have been busy installing three new really great obstacles in time for the Turf Warrior Challenge, which will mean less running and even more craic on the day. This is Martin (above) who is our chief course builder, at one of the new obstacles-in-progress. Don't forget the course is also available for booking throughout the year!

4. Movember on board for Turf Warrior again.

The Turf Warrior Challenge is a great way to kick start Movember this November 1st. Take the challenge and spend the rest of the month showing your friends and family the photos and raising money for men's health. Picture yourself running through Connemara mud with your mo flapping behind you and your mo sistas running beside you! Glory Days!

5. A Great Fjord Swim

Almost 450 people registered for The Great Fjord Swim on Sat 11th Oct which involved both 2km and  750m distance swims.
Congratulations to 17 year old Jonathan Brinn from Tuam who won the 2km race in a superb time of 27mins and 17secs. The 750m swim was one by Carla Henderson from Limerick in 12mins and 16secs.
For more results and race photos you can go to the event website.

6. Adventure Trade Travel Association World Summit

Pictured above are Chris Doyle and Shannon Stowell of the Adventure Trade Travel Association during their 10 day tour of the Wild Atlantic Way this year.
We were delighted to have the 2 guys come to Killary and try out the Turf Warrior Challenge Course.
This video was recently shown at the ATTA World Summit in Killarney where Killary Adventure Company and Gaelforce Events were represented.
That is all the news for October from Gaelforce Events. We hope the more changeable weather has not dimmed your efforts to get out and enjoy the outdoors as, even though a little extra effort is needed, it is definitely worth it!

Best wishes
