Let RCR Find Your Next Boat, or Sell Your Existing One!
What’s New? By CEO Don Finkle: If you have not been there yet, we invite you to visit our new website. I am proud to say that our son Tim Finkle is responsible for the effort and we have received many compliments on the clean look, easier navigation, and better search tools. Check it out!
The shoulder seasons are our busiest times. It is obvious why spring would be active since the boating season is starting then, maybe not so obvious why we would be busy when people are putting their boats away. The reason is that spring and fall are decision times in the life of a boater. At the end of the summer people decide to move up or down in size, maybe order that new boat they have been wanting, or change from sail to power or vice-versa. It is also when folks look back at how much (or how little) they were able to use their boat, which generates a lot of new listings for us. Then there are all the price reductions that tend to come along as sellers become more anxious about seeing their boat go down the highway to a new home.
The combination of more boats hitting the market and others with price reductions makes the fall months a very good time to buy. The selection is good now. Over the winter the inventory gets picked over, and you guessed it…the nicest, cleanest and best-equipped boats tend to sell first. Same with the ones that are priced most attractively. Often storage and winterizing have been paid already. There is also the matter of having your boat purchase decision out of the way so you have more time to plan your 2015 season, making docking arrangements and having any changes made. There is also much less stress at this time of year than in the midst of the spring rush when everyone in our business is crazy-busy. So those who shop now are wise to do so.
Optimism is creeping back into our industry once again. Boat sales are up and orders for new boats are coming in. We are not at pre-2008 levels yet but it is clear that boating is on the rise after some tough years.
One of the reasons for our continued success, in fact for our survival over all these years, is that RCR has always been a full-service company. Right from our earliest beginnings our “stool” has always had three legs: sales, service and boatyard. Sales are the most up and down part of the triumvirate and the other legs have kept us healthy during the down times. The fact that we are also service-oriented helps us better take care of our customers in various facets of ownership. We are once again adding more docks in our Buffalo marina due to the increased demand as that city and its waterfront are experiencing a revival.
RCR Buffalo Annual Fall Open House, October 18-19: This past weekend, RCR held its annual open house in Buffalo. Another great turnout from our loyal customers and new this year was a Chili cook-off with winners getting prizes for best tasting chili. Tim & Sue won the raffle prize for best attendance at our marina social events. There is great camaraderie between slip holders in Buffalo and you will find that our marina does a lot more social activities than some of the others in the city. We thank Chuck, Marilyn and Darren who run most of that effort, but it is the customers who come back each year that make it all happen.

Swiftwater Sail & Power Squadron Boat Simulator: We are very excited at Swiftwater Sail & Power Squadron about having the opportunity to have this powerboat simulator here in Buffalo. There are presently only six simulators available in the entire U.S.! Since our squadron mission is "safe boating through education", I thought getting the word out via the newsletter would compliment RCR Yachts and boost safe boating operation! (From Tom McQuillen)

Looking for a Classic Woody? An industry friend of ours has two beautiful fully-restored Chris Craft mahogany runabouts for sale. They are in great shape, engines run well, no leaks, have had soup to nuts restorations and include trailers. Both have been reduced substantially in price, in the Rochester area:
23’ CHRIS CRAFT Continental 1957 w/Trailer, $31,900
22’ CHRIS CRAFT Cadet 1929 w/Trailer $35,900
Winter Storage Boat Covers: The guys at Custom Covers and Canvas do a great job for us and our customers. They come to our marinas and measure and build the canvas right there to fit your boat perfectly. We recommend them for any covers, biminis, dodgers, etc. Just tell them what you want they will find a way to get it done.
Please keep in mind that the list of used boats for sale below contains only our own Central listings, those that are listed directly for sale at RCR. We of course share these listings with all other brokers, same as the MLS works in real estate.
At the same time it is always a struggle to make the point that we can sell any boat that is out there for sale through any other brokerage, we are not limited to our own Centrals. Just as we work with other brokers to sell our own listings, we work with out of town brokers to find boats for our local customers. Again, similar to real estate. So please let us know what you are looking for and we will find it and negotiate on your behalf. No cost to you for this arrangement.
If you are thinking of selling we can use more listings because our extensive marketing program generates plenty of leads. Contact any of our brokers for a free evaluation of the sale prospects and pricing for your present boat.
Don’t see what you want on our list of boats for sale? Remember that if you don’t see what you want on our list we can find it for you. We work with other brokers to match boats and clients.

News, Stories and Articles:
Annapolis Powerboat Show October 16-19: The majority of the RCR staff left after the sailboat show, but our broker in Rochester, Corbo Corbishley stuck around to attend the Powerboat show. He said there was an impressive 7 boat display for the lines we carry, Back Cove Yachts and Sabre Yachts. Back Cove had their 34, 37, 41 and Downeast 37, while Sabre had a 38, 42 and 48 Salon Express. As of this summer, Corbo is a proud new owner of a Back Cove 30 that he keeps at the Rochester YC. If you have questions about the boat or any of the Back Cove and Sabre models, he's the guy to talk to!

RCR Yachts NEW Website Launched: Earlier this month we launched our new and improved custom RCR Yachts website. It is the same web address so please go check it out when you have time,
www.rcryachts.com. It’s a clean and easy to navigate website that adapts from desktop to iPad to iPhone, etc. Hopefully everyone will like the new look and find it user friendly. We will try our best to keep the content fresh and current, so check back often to our “News” section and our “Used” boats that are updated daily with new listings and price changes, especially at this time of year. This is not only a benefit to RCR but we think our customers who have boats listed with us will also benefit because it will present their boat better and get it sold sooner!
