Hello
from Lucy Findlay
Our current campaign to engage commissioners and health teams in England is well under way. We're writing to Clinical Commissioning Groups, public health teams and local medical committees to recommend the services of certified social enterprises, as great examples of providers of integrated services. MP Norman Lamb's office (Minister of State, Department of Health) advised us to do this. We've had a great response from our Mark Holders where they wish to be recommended. If you're a Mark Holder and you would like to be involved, please email annem@socialenterprisemark.org.uk
If you haven't had a look at my latest blog on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), I strongly recommend you familiarise yourself. There are secret negotiations between the US and Europe to remove regulatory ‘barriers’ which restrict the amount of profits that can be made by international corporations. This could mean that Governments are sued by corporations for legislation designed to protect communities! Read the blog and sign the 38degrees petition.
We're thrilled to advise of our newest Mark Holders: Coventry University, Springing Kids into Life CIC, Community Transport Waltham Forest. Welcome!
best wishes, Lucy

Rachel Brown reports on her visit to Social Enterprise Mark Holders
“I recently had the pleasure of spending time with some of our Mark Holders. My trip kicked off with a visit to Stockwell in London, where I attended the launch of Art4Space’s new community centre. It was a joy to meet the faces behind the hard work of Art4Space and a great opportunity to see their new facilities and examples of the local community projects. With ice-cold beer at hand, I soon settled down to a competitive game of draughts on their hand-made mosaic table. Afterwards, I opted for a spot of hospitality at The Wesley Hotel. Did you know we have a 'Social Enterprise Mark hotel' in the centre of London? It's located at Euston Square. I was greeted by the reception team and had a tour of their facilities by Business Director, James Barr. This 4* ethical hotel hosts all the usual amenities but unlike most hotels, it operates as a social enterprise. Next on my itinerary was London Rebuilding Society’s AGM, an evening which focused on the ‘Home Improvement Scheme’ (read more below). It was great to meet everyone and talk social enterprise. My visit ended in Westbourne at Westway Community Transport's AGM, where I was impressed me by their social enterprising culture, from speaking to the staff, the directors and the volunteers. It was an absolute pleasure to get to know everyone and to hear about their successful year, and future plans. I would like to add that it is always rewarding to visit our Social Enterprise Mark Holders and meet them in person. I was made very welcome so thank you to everyone I met. We can promote your events for you on our online calendar. See http://www.socialenterprisemark.org.uk/se-events/.â€
All the best, Rachel

It is exciting times for London Rebuilding Society - and for London’s older homeowners (over 65) who have been unable to find the finance to repair and refurbish their homes. The new Home Improvement Scheme providing access to finance and full project and property management for older homeowners has been launched.
“The reason we designed the scheme is because we knew there were lots of older homeowners, whose houses were not in good shape and were struggling to get any kind of finance to do the works, to repair the property†says Naomi Kingsley, CEO of London Rebuilding Society. Having already helped 50 homeowners in the Boroughs of Newham, Redbridge, Hackney, Havering and Waltham Forest, London Rebuilding Society is now ready to help thousands of homeowners across the country, initially in London and the South-East.
