Message from the LS Preschool

Hello everyone,
We are gearing up for our annual Fall Feast on Nov. 20th at 6:15pm. We have one church volunteer that has offered to come in and cook/ prepare the turkeys and hams. We would like to ask if there are others that may feel a “Sprit Tug” to help. If you do, please contact Lexanne Graves.

I would also like to remind you that we are holding a Yankee Candle Fundraiser to help support the renovation of our outdoor areas.  You may place orders using the paper catalog (located in the narthex) through this Saturday 11/15/2014.Orders placed using the paper catalogs will arrive the week of December 15-19. You may also order online until the end of December.
We are thankful for your continued support!
Love, Tammy and the Preschool Staff
This year ESO (Evangelism/Social Outreach) has set aside the whole month of November to honor, remember, recognize and appreciate those who have served and those now serving.  Their sacrifices enable us to enjoy the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. We will have a pamphlet on the table in the narthex with suggestions or ideas on what you can do for each week or see Military Appreciation Month. For those of you checking your daily reminder sheets, these are D4, H3, H4, & H9. Contact Karen Kranz or any member of the ESO team for information.

Lessons for Sunday, November 16

First Reading: Zephaniah 1:7, 12–18

Zephaniah (like the prophet Amos in last week's first reading) presents the day of the Lord as one of judgment and wrath. Descriptions of the last day in the New Testament include details taken from Old Testament accounts of the day of the Lord.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 90:1–8[9–11] 12

So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. (Ps. 90:12)

Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1–11

Though we do not know and cannot calculate the day of Christ's return, we live faithfully in the here and now as we anticipate the day when we will be given eternal salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gospel: Matthew 25:14–30

Jesus tells a parable about his second coming, indicating that it is not sufficient merely to maintain things as they are. Those who await his return should make good use of the gifts that God has provided them.
