Snow in the middle of Spring.  $100 voucher just in time for Christmas. Plan 2015 with our upcoming events. What's on offer this month?
Dear <<First Name>>

What an amazing month it has been !  The Blue Mountains were turned into a winter wonderland when we experienced a freak snowstorm earlier this month.  Perfect spring weather one day and snow fields and snow angels the next. When asked by guests "how should we dress when we come up to the Blue Mountains, Lorraine", my response of "dress for four seasons, as you never know what you're going to experience" is the best way to sum up this most accessible wilderness.

As a volunteer in the 50th Leura Garden Festival, I spent two glorious days meeting some wonderful owners who graciously opened their gardens to visitors from far and wide.  Thirteen gardens spanning over nine days with all proceeds going to the Blue Mountains District Hospital.  50 years of spring in the Blue Mountains - simply blooming marvellous is all I had to say at the end of it all!

The countdown to Christmas is on and another shock horror reminder, it's only ......

48 days until Christmas!

Did you receive your $100 Gift Voucher in the mail?  Make sure to make the most of it and buy your loved ones or friends an "experience" they'll never forget - it's valid for 12 months from date of purchase.  Allow us to take the stress and strain out of gift giving, beautifully presented and posted to you well in time for Christmas. All the best for a warm and springy November.

Awards Nights continues

A great night was had at the recent annual Blue Mountains Business Awards.  The competition was fierce and whilst we didn't come home with a first place win, we were delighted to be awarded a "Highly Commended".
We were thrilled to be advised that we are "Finalists" in the upcoming NSW Tourism Awards with our prestigious gala evening being held on 27th November.  Wish us luck and we'll keep you posted.

PLEASE HELP ME make a difference this weekend

Over this coming weekend, 8th and 9th November, I'll be participating once again in The Weekend to End Women's Cancers benefiting the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse at RPA.  It is a Weekend that I am absolutely committed to and hence here I am doing it again.  Last year we raised $4,250 and I am determined to help make a difference once again this year. It's a Weekend to remember those lives we have lost to breast or gynaecologic cancer and a Weekend to celebrate the lives we are saving.  Each dollar raised will support the development of the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse at RPA, a world-class centre that is transforming cancer treatment for Australians in an environment thriving on discovery, research and uncompromising care.  The Lifehouse is providing recovery facilities designed to maximise a patient's ability to beat this wretched disease. This is a Weekend creating hope for every woman's future. Already our funding from last year has contributed to the building of The Chris O'Brien Lifehouse

HELP ME make a difference and PLEASE make your donation here.  It's not too late and your donation is so desperately needed and so graciously accepted. Thank you.

Did you know.....

That the Blue Mountains has a special connection with former Prime Minister, Gough Whitlan who sadly passed away on 21st October?

When two tall dark-haired students locked eyes across a crowded room at a Christmas party in 1939, it sparked the beginning of a romance that lasted almost 70 years. A few years later, in April 1942, after a large wedding and reception, Margaret and Gough Whitlam caught the train to the Blue Mountains and a taxi to a fashionable local hotel to enjoy four days of wedded bliss on their honeymoon.

(Photograph of Gough and attestation paper from his RAAF officer personnel file dated 1942).

His next momentous visit was some 30 years later when Gough arrived in the Blue Mountains to plant his tree in the Prime Minister's Corridor of Oaks located at Faulconbridge, NSW near the grave of Sir Henry Parkes and only 20 minutes from Katoomba.  A corridor of oak trees has been planted at this place by each Prime Minister of Australia or a surviving family member since Federation.

A Deltone pays a visit

It's not every day that one of the band members from 'The Deltones' pays you a visit.  Sitting at The Gatsby and chatting over coffee with Bob Pierse and listening to stories of Johnny O'Keefe, Barry Gibb and performances for kings and queens around the world. It certainly was a mind-blowing coffee moment.
