Chapman Valley Citizen of the Year Nominations


The Shire of Chapman Valley is calling for nominations for Citizen Awards in the following categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year, Community Group of the Year. 
These Awards recognise those who have shown an outstanding willingness to lend a helping hand, displaying an exceptional level of commitment and providing a service and support to the Chapman Valley community.
Nominations Close Friday 21st November 2014.

Midwest Blue Print Roadshow


A presentation of the Blueprint Roadshow by the MWDC to the Chapman Valley community will be at the Nabawa Council Chambers, 10th November 4pm.
The Blueprint is designed to assist Government, industry and community in future planning and decision making for the region.
It aims to include history, social, economic and natural profiles, as well as challenges and opportunities.
It is an opportunity to make sure Chapman Valley and our communities are well represented.  Deadline for comment is 18th November, read more...

Local Projects Update

Chapman Valley Menshed - Construction of the new Men's Shed will commence early December, with funding for the fit out trickling in.  The sire has been cleared ready for the shed!
Yuna Community Centre - Geraldton Building Services and Cabinets are now contracted to construct the building which will commence in January 2015 and completed by June 2015.  The Yuna community have begun site works and will be delivering sand and gravel over the next month.
Howatharra Bush Fire Brigade Shed -  Funding has been received for a new 2 bay bush fire brigade shed with amenities. The shed will be located on the corner of Nanson Howatharra Rd and the NWCH with shed construction beginning in December/January.

Roads Update


Yuna Tenindewa Road -  A3 km section of road is currently being replaced and resealed, along with a bend upgrade which will be completed in 2 weeks.
Dartmoor Road - An extra 4km length of road will be bitumised and widened, scheduled to be completed in 2 weeks.
East Bowes Road -  Work has begun on the resealing project beginning with the base, followed by the 12km bitumen seal scheduled for January 2015.

Farm Businesses


The Rural Business Development Corporation (RBDC) in conjunction with the Rural Financial Counselling Service WA, the Regional Men's Health Initiative and the Department of Human Services are conducting a series of seminars in the Mid-West Region to provide information to pastoral and farm businesses on the type of assistance available including those businesses impacted by drought conditions.
The Seminars are to be held at Yuna, Friday 21st Nov 2014, 10.00 am to 12.00 pm, Yuna Community Hall.  What services are coming and how can they help?  Read More....
 

Sports Community Online Training


Sports Community is pleased to announce the arrival of online training courses for grassroots sports club volunteers. The courses are available from the Sports Community website . There are two courses on offer at the special introductory price of $19.95 per course reduced from $49.95 until December 2014. 
Access DoT direct and register to receive a free personalised account where you can manage all information relating to your personal vehicle licence and drivers licence, as well as pay all bills associated with these licences.  There is also temporary movement of vehicle permits available.

Council Meeting Dates for 2014


The Shire of Chapman Valley hereby gives public notice of its Ordinary Council meeting for 2014:

19 November 2014
10 December 2014


Council will meet at 9.00am in the Council Chambers at Nabawa (3270 Chapman Valley Road) on each ordinary meeting date.

 
Christmas closure - 4.30pm Wednesday 24 December to 8.30am Monday 5 January 2015

REGIONAL EVENTS

Funding is offered for eligible regional events held between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016 that have the ability or potential to attract visitors to the region, achieve media attention and involve and inspire the local community.  Event holders can apply for funding between $5,000 and $50,000.  The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday, January 12, 2015.  Visit Tourism WA for more information.


CADBURY COMMUNITY GRANTS

Cadbury Fundraiser provides up to $1,200 to support a wide range of community-based projects that increase social inclusion and enhance community engagement in Australia.
Deadline 28th November 2014.

COMMUNITY WATER GRANTS
 
The Philmac Project is our way of giving something back to the people who have supported us for more than 80 years, making it possible to keep manufacturing in Australia.  This exciting initiative is offering $30,000 in cash grants to help roll out water-related projects. Any community group in regional Australia can apply, including schools, councils, show societies, recreation and environmental groups.
Just fill in the simple online form and then rally your local community to drum up votes.  Enter online today. Submissions and voting close December 12, 2014.


JETSTAR FLYING START GRANT

Jetstar is now calling for charities, community groups and social enterprises based in Western Australia to apply for a $30,000 grant, made up of $15,000 cash and $15,000 worth of Jetstar flights.
The initiative is designed to help not-for-profit organisations fund projects that make a positive impact in their community.  Applications close on the 31st December 2014.  Read more...

ROYALTIES FOR REGIONS FUNDING

The Midwest Development Commission are inviting community, public and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the regions by applying for the Regional Grants Scheme, or the Community Chest Fund.
The Regional Grant Scheme offers grants between $20,001 and $300,000.  Applications close 11 December 2014
The Community Chest grants offers up to $20,000.   The first cut off date is 17 November 2014
