LADWP Sets Efficiency Goals High —15% by 2020
This week, the LADWP has announced its goal to achieve the most intensive energy efficiency goal of any major municipal utility provider in the nation — a reduction of 15 percent by 2020. Meeting this goal represents a 3,596 GWh reduction in energy use and far exceeds the 10 percent requirement established by AB 2021.

Mayor Eric Garcetti expects LADWP's programs to create financial and job savings in addition to environmental savings — in order to achieve the goal, the city is relying on participation from residential, industrial and commercial businesses in Los Angeles. In order to maximize participation, they have developed a variety of incentives, rebates, and efficiency programs designed to make saving easy and affordable. A complete list of LADWP rebates is available here.

Tellus Offers
Networked EV Charging Stations for $0 Out-of-Pocket
Tellus Power is offering LABBC Clients their high-performance, rugged Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at zero out-of-pocket cost. Tellus provides a Level 2 dual-port, networked charging station for the cost of LADWP’s $1,750 rebate. LABBC Clients must be located within LADWP’s service area and meet other rebate requirements.

The stations are operated by Tellus Power. Tellus manufacturers durable, long-lasting EV charging stations made with high strength ¼” aircraft-grade aluminum housing, and available in pedestal mount, wall mount, and pole mount models.

The Grove shopping center, Joe’s Auto Parks, and other Los Angeles corporations are making use of the rebates to provide EV charging as a valuable amenity to their patrons.

Recent Study
Maps Trends in Energy Savings
Technology
A recent study by Daintree, intended to gauge the implementation of energy control and management systems, found that...

o Most building owners use local or networked wired control technologies

Lighting equipment and controls represented the majority of energy efficiency measures

30 percent of respondents used no energy control or management system

Lack of budget, upper level management buy-in, and ROI were all substantial factors for not implement-ing technologies

Many respondents indicated that more compelling rebates, incentives, and ROIs would incentivize them to expand controls systems and measures

See the full report for more details. LADWP offers generous rebates on controls upgrades and many other water and energy savings projects; a complete summary of these rebates is available here
