Each month, we bring you growing tips courtesy of LIfeSpace Project's Garden Guide.  Check it out for great growing tips, info, and planting calendar.

Some of the vegetables you planted about a month ago will be ready to harvest now, and some vegetables will finish their harvests this month.

What to do -  Winter maintenance such as cleaning out your pots and adding protection to your winter crops are the main activities you need to do this month.  To help protect your pots over winter, you can wrap the sides with material like bubble wrap, which will help prevent cracking.  Taller pots or containers will also need to be stored in a spot where they won't get knocked over by heavy winds.  Support your plants with row covers and stakes to add more protection against the colder weather.

Direct seed crops like arugula, mustard and spinach for early spring germination.

Help our community grow! Make a donation to the Edible Garden Project to support our food security programs across the North Shore.

The gardens are winding down, but don't hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in volunteering. We have many indoor tasks and are always keen to meet new folks interested in our work!
