UAE Plays Vital Role in the Fight Against Extremism

The UAE continues to play a critical role in the ongoing military action against the Islamic State and other extremists.The UAE and US air forces are working together closely to identify and strike targets in extremist-held areas. Remarking on the strong security partnership, former CENTCOM Commander General Anthony Zinni calls the UAE “the strongest relationship that the United States has in the Arab World today.” Learn More>

UAE Embassy and FC Dallas Foundation Dedicate New Soccer Field for Kids

In late October, the UAE Embassy and the FC Dallas Foundation unveiled a new soccer field at the Jubilee Park and Community Center in East Dallas, which will support hundreds of kids enrolled in Jubilee's athletic program. Including Dallas, the UAE Embassy has donated seven fields across the US, enabling kids in under-served communities to play soccer year-round. Learn More >

Emirates Leadership Initiative with Harvard Kennedy School launches at UAE Embassy


The launch of the Emirates Leadership Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School underlines the UAE's long-standing commitment to providing world-class educational opportunities for future leaders. In addition to supporting academic fellowships, the Initiative will help train and develop emerging public service professionals from the UAE and Middle East region. Speaking to Kennedy School alumni at the launch event, Ambassador Al Otaiba highlighted the role of education to prevent extremism, and the UAE's continued dedication to "leadership in a turbulent world." UAE Minister of Economy Leads Delegation to the United States


The UAE Minister of Economy, His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, and a delegation of UAE business leaders visited the United States to reinforce the strong trade, business and economic ties between the two countries. The delegation, which centered on entrepreneurship and innovation, began its trip in Washington, DC, meeting with stakeholders before traveling to Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles. During the visit, the UAE Minister and delegation participants shared updates on the country's growth and economic diversification plans. The delegation also highlighted opportunities that will be created for US businesses around the Dubai World Expo 2020. Learn More>

UAE Consul General Visits New Mexico and Utah to Solidify West Coast Ties


During trips to Utah and New Mexico, UAE Consul General Abdulla Alsaboosi met with state government officials, local business leaders and other stakeholders to highlight the close UAE-US alliance. In Albuquerque, the Consul General spoke at the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management, reflecting on bilateral trade and the growing ties between the state and the UAE. While visiting Salt Lake City, the Consul General met with Governor Gary Herbert, officials from the Governor's Office of Economic Development, and Utah Film Commission. Underscoring the important commercial relationship between UAE airlines and Boeing, the Consul General also visited a facility in Salt Lake City where components are manufactured for commercial aircraft. THIS MONTH IN HISTORY

On November 5, 2003, the first Etihad Airways flight took off - a ceremonial trip between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Today, Etihad flies to over 63 destinations around the globe, including four US cities. Later this year, flights will begin running out of San Francisco as well as Dallas.


UPCOMING EVENTS

OCTOBER 17 – NOVEMBER 29, 2014

The first major tour of Past Forward began at Artspace111 in Fort Worth, Texas. The exhibition, which features over 50 paintings, photographs, sculptures and other media by Emirati artists, highlights the rapid growth of the Emirati art scene while simultaneously reflecting the development and history of the UAE through a display of its rich cultural heritage.


NOVEMBER 21 – NOVEMBER 23, 2014

The 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Featuring a scenic track and top speeds of 320 km/h, the race is also one of the few featured venues to run counterclockwise.
 

NOVEMBER 21 – DECEMBER 2, 2014

7 Emirates Run, advertised as an "ultra marathon," is a charity run that raises funds to support children suffering from extreme congenital limb deformities. Seven teams of seven runners each run through all seven emirates of the UAE in twelve days, running a total of 575 kilometers by the race's end.
