Spotlight On...

Volunteer Centre Leeds, part of Voluntary Action Leeds, helps to match up organisations looking for volunteers with individuals looking for volunteering opportunities.

Between July to September this year it gave one to one advice and information on volunteering opportunities to 374 individuals from its base at the City Centre One Stop.

A typical example of its recruitment work is the current vacancy of Befriending Partnership Volunteer with Connect Housing Association. Some of Connect Housing’s tenants are living alone and may not come into contact with anyone from one week to the next. This role will change the lives of those tenants by providing the companionship that they need. The volunteering  time could be anything from one hour per week at any time of the day. Visits could be as simple as a cup of tea at home, help with shopping trips or a trip to the cafe or cinema.

Volunteer Centre Leeds will help recruit suitable individuals to the role.

Connect Housing will manage the volunteers ensuring full training and enhanced DBS check are undertaken. It also ensures that volunteers feel suitably looked after.
