Veteran Honored

I was commissioned to make a Christmas gift for someone's beloved father who is a veteran of the United States Air Force. The folder's blade is stainless san mai damascus, the liners are titanium, the wheels are stainless steel, the scales are CP titanium and the backspacer is aircraft aluminum. Engraving is by Brian Powley. Each detail of this knife has a part to play in the story of Lt Col King. Click the picture above for the inspiring story.

2015 Show Schedule

We will not be attending the Blade Show this year as we have a son graduating high school on the same weekend!
We will, however, be attending
 The Gathering
Las Vegas September 3-5
First Wedding

Family News

Nita's oldest daughter was married this past November (another reason the newsletter has been severely delayed). David's youngest daughter is engaged to be married in late September. They both reside in a town 200+ miles from where we live. We are blessed to have them as well as Nita's next oldest daughter in the same town. In addition to the weddings, our oldest at home has enlisted in the Army (11 Bravo!) and reports at the end of the summer for basic training. We will still have 4 out of our 10 at home with two in high school and two in middle school next year. Church involvement, extra curricular activities at school and everyone's social life should keep us busy to say the least.

Art From The Past

Wharncliff folder

It has been eight months since our last newsletter! I am really sorry to have allowed so much time to slip past. Busy life with busy kids and busy business - yes, we all have excuses, right?!
I hope you enjoy getting caught up on All Things Broadwell...
Koa Subhilt in Hawaii

Hawaii Knife Show

We are, as I type, in Kauai following last weekend's knife show on Oahu. David and I are thoroughly enjoying a little R&R! The knife show was a nice time of catching up with old friends and doing what we love, selling knives! Click the picture above to see pictures of the show. This feature subhilt with koa handle was made specifically for the show. You will also see included in these show pictures, Nita getting to see the one knife from the photo archives she most wanted to see in person. It's owner surprised us both by coming to the show and bringing his knife. We have taken a few "vacation pictures" of the two available folders from the show, and they are on this link as well.

Knife Rights Folder

Knife Rights

This organization is on the front lines of defending American's rights to carry knives. Once again they have a Broadwell art piece in the lineup for their annual fundraiser "Ultimate Steel". Click on the Knife Rights banner to go to their site. Click on the above picture to see this years Broadwell offering.

Local Rehab Auction

The North Texas Rehab, for many years, has raised funds to help people receive the rehabilitative health care that they need. I have donated a knife every year for their live auction. In the picture above you will see this years contribution. The blade is stainless steel, the guard is also stainless and the handle is fossil walrus ivory and clero walnut. The sheath is cowhide and is crafted by NB Designs. That is, of course, Nita Broadwell!

On The Bench

David always has several projects going in his shop. Click the picture above and you will be taken to a new page on our website. This page will be highlighting an upcoming special project. While the project is underway, pictures will be posted as they become available. We hope you enjoy this new website feature.
Award at Gathering

The Gathering: Art Deco Ruled

Labor Day weekend 2014: The USN show in Las Vegas was exceptionally good for us. David won best fixed blade and best non knife accessory awards at this show. The fixed blade was the Art Deco subhilt fighter shown above. His pen, "Iced Deco" (shown below) won the non knife category. This show has become one of the best custom knife shows around and certainly a favorite for the Broadwells. Click the pictures for a work in progress of the knife and close ups of the fountain pen.

roller ball pen and box

Custom Pen Projects

The above picture shows a custom ordered roller ball pen. The cap and other components are made from a modern celluloid. The barrel is a celluloid dating back to the early 1930's. The trim components are titanium. Broadwell also made the presentation box from zebra wood. This pen was an engagement gift to a man in France.
Cross pendant

Available

It is a good thing to have very little in inventory. I am very busy filling orders. We estimate that I am approximately 4 years backordered. But my books are still open as of right now. This cross pendant is available as well as two pens, no knives. Click the link above to view.
