November 20 - Factsheet - Impact of Mines/ERW on Children
In recognition of Universal Children's Day, Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor will release its annual factsheet "Impact of Mines/ERW on Children." The latest update details child casualties in 2013 due to landmines, victim-activated improvised explosive devices, cluster munition remnants and other explosive remnants of war (ERW). The factsheet also examines assistance to child casualties, finding a small but increasing number of activities reported by states to address the specific needs of survivors according to their age. (Last year's factsheet available here.)
December - Equal Basis 2014: Access and Rights in 33 Countries
In December, the Monitor will release a report authored by the Monitor Victim Assistance Team that provides an overview of annual progress and challenges in providing comprehensive rehabilitation to survivors and other persons with disabilities in Mine Ban Treaty and Convention on Cluster Munitions state parties within a disability rights context. Recognizing conflict and post-conflict development challenges, Equal Basis 2014 considers the influence of the World Report on Disability and provides an update on the rights of persons with disabilities, including mine/ERW survivors, in the relevant countries. (See the Monitor's 2013 report Frameworks for Victim Assistance for background.)
