Dear CIRCA,

We have over 200 students coming to learn and perform at their best in the soon-to-be largest free-of-charge conference in the New York City area! However, we are severely under-staffed! The conference runs this Saturday, November 15th, 9am-5:30pm, with an extremely exclusive after-party on the first week of December! You can basically choose the committee you will be staffing. It's a great learning opportunity for early CIRCAdians to get Chair and Crisis Director experience, getting ready to rock your next CMUNCE and CMUNNY leadership! You will know everything by attending our Staff Briefing on Friday, November 14th, at 7pm, location to be specified in staff-only e-mail.

STAFF, STAFF, STAFF! ALACRITOUS AND DEDICATED HIGH SCHOOLS KIDS EAGER TO IDOLIZE YOU!

CIRCA Mentorship Panel 11/11 at 8pm – Hamilton 717

CIRCA is hosting a Mentorship Panel
for new CIRCA members who are seeking to learn more about getting more involved in CIRCA, guidance in program and career planning, networking, and much more! There will be a panel of CIRCA upperclassmen who are pursuing careers in in economics, political science, history, pre-med, and engineering. They’ll give you advice on what classes to take, work and internship opportunities, CIRCA involvement, and even where to party!

Come join us over FREE INSOMNIA COOKIES and MILK and take advantage of the opportunity to meet CIRCA upperclassmen and get more involved in the club! Here's the Facebook Event Page!

CIRCA Presents the Awards Symposium 11/23
Are you interested in getting an internship or a research position next summer? Worried about finances? CIRCA can help!

Last year, CIRCA initiated the CIRCA Award, a grant for CIRCA members which seeks to alleviate the financial burden on CIRCA members undertaking low-paying or unpaid internships, especially those that have an impact on the international community. On November 23rd, CIRCA is hosting an Award Symposium where last year’s awardees will talk about their summer work experience, we will disclose important information regarding this year’s academic award, and provide all those attending an opportunity to meet with other CIRCA members and alumni who share their career interests.

Come join us over lunch, hear about the unique experiences of last year’s awardees and take advantage of the opportunity to learn how to become one!

Join CIRCA's Relay for Life Team!

CIRCA will be participating in Relay for Life for the first time this year!  Relay for Life is a community fundraising walk to help the American Cancer Society in the world’s largest movement to end cancer. In addition to the team walk, there are many games, ceremonies, and activities at the event, making for a great day of fundraising and community events!. 4 million people participate in Relay for life each year, and Columbia is hosting its own Relay for Life Fundraiser Columbia on 11th April 2015!

This is a great opportunity for CIRCA to have fun, bond, and give back! Join the CIRCA Relay for Life Team here. Or email Zunaira with questions!

COLUMBIA GLOBAL MODEL UN

We are excited to announce that staff applications are officially open for the Columbia Global Model United Nations, to be held in Istanbul, Turkey over Fall Break, 2015! This is a final reminder that staff applications are due Friday, November 14 to ooa2121@columbia.edu. We are looking for around 24 CIRCAdians to form the staff for this new conference, which will bring together over 500 high school students from around the world. We look forward to reading your applications!

STAFFING APPLICATION
COLUMBIA GLOBAL MUN OVERVIEW
CMUNCE

Hello CMUNCE Staff and members of CIRCA,

Thanks again to all of the proposers and new staff who came to our Info Session! If you happened to miss it do not hesitate to fill out the staff form to get assigned ASAP. Meet those travel team requirements!

Attention committee proposers midnight crisis applications are available here!
Applications are due Monday, November 17th. Midnight crisis is a very exciting and unique part of CMUNCE in which 4 committees run additional sessions from about 1am to 3am the Saturdaymorning of the conference. Delegates LOVE this - we wake them up, cause a commotion, and each of the 4 committees will receive a complementary room at the Marriott Marquis. Live the good life.

Also, for those of you who staffed CMUNNY committees that are also running at CMUNCE don't forget to make make it clear in the staff form if you want to sign up for the same committee! The committees which are running again are:
  • Detroit City Council 2014
  • Moetzet HaAm: The People’s Council, 1948
  • Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), 2015
  • The Signoria of Florence. 1378
  • Korea: The Kingdom of Gold, 550 BCE

TRAVEL TEAM

Hey Circadians,

We would like to, first and foremost, thank the UPMUNC team for killing it last weekend: Laura Fritsch, Jose Carlos Martinez, Albert Park, Nika Sheynberg, John Mellow, Jay Robinson, Kalpana Mohanty, Tanveer Singh, Scott Butler, Dana Scott, Camilo Rivera, Susanna de Martino, Camila Puig, Alastair Pearson, Giovanni Pagan and Lukas Holste.

We could also like to extend a special congratulation to:
Laura Fritsch and Jose Carlos Martinez - Best Delegate (and best partners in crime!)
Tanveer Singh – Outstanding Delegate
Albert Park – Honorable Mention
Alastair Pearson – Honorable Mention
Camilo Rivera – Verbal Commendation

The team had an amazing time this past weekend and we are beyond excited about traveling with all of you this coming semester.

Instead of holding regular practice, this Saturday we are giving everyone the option to choose one of the ESIMS shifts (morning, afternoon or both) to staff. This is an amazing opportunity to get involved in CIRCA so please reach out to Adriano Fernandes to set up the time slot that works best for you.

Warm hugs (because its already getting uncomfortably cold),

Laura Fritsch and Frank Pellegrino
