The butterflies are back!

These enchantments on wings have a way of emerging in my work always symbolic of change. Sometimes it is a gnawing feeling at the back of the mind; of a shift in energies, when one knows something has changed but can't put a finger on what exactly.  Sometimes a more obvious Ah-Ha moment of things falling into place.

When I started putting together the Butterfly Effect series in 2012, little did I know that the series, true to its name, would keep resonating through my creative process, through my own personal metamorphosis, as it has, & grow to have this kind of a symbolic significance.

October has been crazy busy & one giant month of hazy. I seem to be saying that a lot in the last few months, but this month seems doubly so. I'm not complaining though. When I wrote my newsletter for July about the season of gifts arriving early, I didn't expect it to continue & extend into the festivities of the year end. It's quite awesome that most of my work that I've sent out in the last few months is as gifts. An arty gift for a mother in law who loves peacocks, from a doting son in law. A birthday gift of dragonflies to a sister deserving of a pretty birthday surprise. A painting for a corporate client to gift to one of his important business contacts. A lovely girl's gift to herself using her first salary from a favorite new job. Another birthday surprise, this one from a loving husband to his wife. And a bunch of Diwali gifts. Prints. Originals. And everything in between. Have totally loved being part of the festivities. Very grateful to all of you wonderful people who let me be a part of it!
Is this awesome. Or is this awesome?

I have a constant love-hate-maybelove-maybesomethingelse relationship with most of my works. If it doesn't do it for me anymore, say after a few months, a year or more, it will most probably find its place in front of the proverbial wrecking ball. These however, my favorite butterflies from the Frozen diptych are special. They have been all love-love-love. And they have found themselves a new loving home.

It is always exciting to see your favorite work go to someone who loves it as much as you do, but when one buys the art as a surprise gift for a special someone, it definitely ups the special-ness quotient. So.Much.Warm.And.Fuzzies.
Dragonflores
I love Dragons. And I love Dragonflies. There’s something mystical about the dragonfly, like it belongs to another realm. It reminds me of the forest fairies. Perhaps it morphs into one at night. Maybe it was plucked out of a fairy tale, just to add to the enchantment in our world. The dragonflores diptych part of the Pink Ginger series is a set of artworks in mixed media. The dragonflies haven't appeared as often as the butterflies in my work, but they are my absolute favorites. And now they're back in the shop!
