Fall is my favorite season. I just can't convey to you how wonderful it makes me feel. Maybe it's the cooler weather after a hot summer, the sweet smell of decaying leaves after a rain, or the incredible diversity in structure and elegance of seed pods and seed heads on our native plants. All I know is that I feel far more alive in autumn than any other time of year. This month's newsletter is very much a celebration of a prime and too often overlooked gardening season -- so between preferring seed heads and fall gardening, I've mastered that art of contrariety. But I can't leave you with that, so a pun appropriate for the season:

I tried to catch the fog this morning, but I mist.

"I liked how he connected what we do in our gardens to the overall health of our ecosystem. He provided facts I hadn't heard before and I walked away from the presentation inspired to make changes." "Vogt did an outstanding job bridging practical gardening with the philosophy behind why we need native plants in our landscapes. He had great photos, statistics, and personal stories." "He was knowledgeable, honest, unafraid of conflict, and used a very conversational tone." -- Millersville Native Plants in the Landscape Conference attendees
