Thanks.
Welcome to the sixth issue of Step Into Our Shoes, a newsletter focused on the people, programs and activities of BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas! Click here to read past issues
I’ve lost track of the number of times in the past year that I meant to say “thank you.” Those missed opportunities that I meant to deliver in person, by phone, through email or in a handwritten note. Eventually, I convince myself that too many weeks have passed and the window has closed. And like a reset button, the holiday season arrives.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I extend my appreciation to my BPW sisters: to Christy Crump, BPW/Florida President, and her executive team for providing another fantastic learning experience at fall state conference; to State VP Karen Lund and her BPW/Hernando sisters for traveling the distance to attend our annual fall forum; to our executive committee for always pitching in and being present; to our committee chairs for their creativity and commitment to ensuring that our programs and initiatives are successful; and to our members for their input and making the BPW experience so worthwhile year after year.
Take a moment to say "thank you" to your family members, friends, colleagues, associates and your BPW sisters. There's no better time to start being grateful than Thanksgiving!
In solidarity,
Alizza Punzalan-Randle

Dr. Carter G. Woodson African-American Museum Holds BPW-Inspired Diversi-Tea
Conversation with others who do not look like you, think like you or believe like you is more important than ever. Following her participation in our August Equality Day Diversi-Tea, where open discussion was the focal point, Terri Lipsey Scott was inspired to host an October Diversi-Tea at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, where she serves as Board Chair. BPW members Jerri Evans, Cynthia Jenkins, Alizza Punzalan-Randle and Syndi Shollenberger joined an array of women from the community to enjoy a delicious brunch and have a thought-provoking exchange about race, social issues, and the importance of the Woodson Museum in the community and its future. More Diversi-Tea dialogues are expected. Stay tuned!
Daystar's Annual Fall Fashion Fling
On Sept. 27, BPW came out in full force to support Daystar Life Center's annual Fall Fashion Fling and fellow member Kitty Rawson, Daystar's Community Relations Manager. The event raised funds so that Daystar can continue to provide basic needs on an emergency basis to the poor, underserved, elderly, disabled, homeless, unemployed and underemployed.
