Lesson 457: God's Righteous Provision, Pt.2
Even if our finest moments could somehow qualify us, our everyday failings disqualify us.
The psalmist under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit assures us again that God won’t forget us.
The final mention that righteousness endures forever is the ultimate reason God remembers.
It isn’t because of anything we have done, but because of what God did on our behalf. Ps.112:9
Not because we were righteous people who did righteous deeds, but God’s own righteousness.
Christ’s righteousness is credited to every believer. God never forgets what His Son did.
The horn of a righteous person is exalted in honor; this word had rich meaning for Hebrews.
In the Old Testament, a horn is a symbol of dignity or strength. Lifting means providing honor.
The verb “lift” is passive; the righteous person does no lifting. They are lifted up by another.
God Himself acts for us, to give such honor that He is justified to remember our righteousness.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
