WEATHER with Emma

"I'm so sick. I have no idea what I just wrote. There's so much under Wednesday and Thursday but I'm too tired to re-read it. I'm so sorry Jacob and TWAK."

Emma Steen is a regular reader of the weekly weather who graciously puts together this emotional forecast. Look out for more in-depth and personal accounts of what it is like to be her in an upcoming TWAK.

MONDAY - Everything about this day is bad. It's cold and there will be wind going at 27km/h. I have no idea what that necessarily means, but it sounds fast and awful.

TUESDAY - Slightly warmer but with 64% humidity. Once again, I don't know what that entails at all. I shouldn't write for weather.

WEDNESDAY - Now it's getting up to 16 degrees, and will be "mostly cloudy". Which is a term I struggle with, because I don't know what "mostly" is really telling us. Will most of the sky be cloudy? Where will it not be? This is going on for too long. I'm sorry Jacob.

THURSDAY - Cloudy and colder. But to be honest, once we get this far down the week there is really no telling what will happen. I often will say that it will not rain, and then it does. So you should really not rely on this past Wednesday. Google has some great weather resources, I would suggest checking there.

FRIDAY - Raining with 98% humidity. This seems nuts to me. I don't own a raincoat.

SATURDAY - Still raining but the humidity went down by 22%, which I guess is good?

SUNDAY - Sunday.

YOUR BOOKSTORE IS DOING THINGS
Upcoming events! Community outreach! Jacob is tired so he’s going to copy and paste the bookstore email! Come and buy your tickets for the Giller Lite gala, coming up on Monday, November 10! It takes place at the Atlantica hotel, where we will be streaming the Giller prize announcement. Local literary figures (such as Kaleigh Trace and Graham Steele) will debate who should win the big prize. Tickets are only $8 for students, and we guarantee you'll go home with many prizes! Tickets are available at the King's Bookstore. Have you heard yet about the Bookstore/Galley Bookclub?! Our first meeting will take place November 13th in the Wardroom, where we will be discussing THE DINNER by Herman Koch. You can pick up a copy of the book at the Bookstore this week to get reading!

THE KTS PRESENTS:
THE DOUBLE BILL – BETRAYAL AND COWBOY MOUTH

The KTS is kicking off their First Season with a Double Bill! Harold Pinter's 'Betrayal' directed by Danielle Adessky and Sam Shepard, and Patti Smith's 'Cowboy Mouth' directed by Tanis Smither, will be taking place from November 5-8 in The Pit.

Inspired by Harold Pinter's real life affair, Betrayal discusses the "human condition" and its nature of egotism and self gratification. Through hidden emotions and deceptive motivations, each character succeeds in betraying their loved ones as well as themselves.

Cowboy Mouth is the story of Slim and Cavale, two people who have big dreams. It is a surrealist portrait of the struggling artist, and questions the authenticity of the 'American Dream'

Reservations can be made in advance via www.kingstheatricalsociety.org OR RIGHT AT THIS HANDY LINK and rush tickets will be sold the day of. $10 general admission, $5 for students.

2B THEATRE PRESENTS: 2BOOZE AND SCHMOOOZE
Pacifico (1505 Barrington), 9:30 PM

INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN THE PERFORMING ARTS? This is the event for you! 2b Theatre is a neat little theatre company here in Halifax and they have a long-time connection to the KTS. Every year they host a mixer and bring out all the cool Halifax folks who work in theatre and the performing arts, so aspiring young artists (like you!) can come shmooze (and dance!) with each other, and with professional artists. Every student is paired up with a professional for part of the night, so if there is a particular artist that you’d like to meet, we can make that happen! This year’s extravaganza will take place November 8 at the Capitol Theatre private party room at Pacifico, from 9:30 to close. $10 gets you cover and 2 drinks (normally $6 cover and drinks $5 each). If you’re interested in buying a ticket, email kingstheatricalsociety@gmail.com, or call Jon at 902-488-2301. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door. The festivities only get going around 10, so it’s the perfect place to continue your night of theatre after seeing the KTS Double Bill. Check out the ~~sWaNkY~~ Facebook event for more info!
