Our Silver Anniversary!!!
What a great start to an exciting year! Classes are well underway and students are learning theatre skills from Ottawa theatre professionals. Be sure to get to know your child's teacher, they are the experts and are working for their students. We look forward to getting to know all the students and their families this fall.
OYP Theatre School is proud of its excellence in theatre arts education. Since it began in 1989, OYP has had a special commitment to the community and to young people. With input, support and help from parents, students, teachers, and volunteers, we’ve grown from a small volunteer-run community group to a leader in theatre education. We teach theatre by doing theatre; students explore, experience and integrate into their lives the skills they/You learn at OYP.
In the New Year OYP STUDENT CLUB will meet alternate Sundays to talk about theatre and OYP and/or anything else! Call the office to sign up!
As a not-for-profit corporation and a registered charity, OYP Theatre School has been chosen by many parents to be the recipient of United Way donations. As part of our fundraising efforts for the 25th anniversary, we would like to invite all who have benefited from OYPTS’ program to consider making a minimum $25 donation to OYP by earmarking a part of their salary to the United Way donation this year and/or making a donation directly to OYP! This money could help to pilot new opportunities at OYP and help to build the reserve fund to ensure that OYP is around for another 25 years! Call us for more info.

I am sure you have noticed our "Student Wall of Fame". Alan Dean Photography shoots the photos and donates one of every students for our Spring Student Showcase. He also donates 10% of photo sales back to OYPTS! Your photo orders to Alan will be due on November 18, 2014.
Coming soon to our Wall of Fame will be recognition of our OYP Family in the Theatre Community. Individuals in the OYP Family have received awards this past year. Here are just a few... Kathi Langston for Best Female Performance at the 24th Annual Atlantic Fringe Festival, Derek Price- Say Ten Productions Best Director- Emily Ramsay- Lady Fest Fim in Beverly Hills Ca.-The Depths, Kassandra Engmann won a Canada's Capital Cappie Award for Featured Actress in a Play for The Crucible. Danelle Jammes won a Canada's Capital Cappie Award for being part of the Hair and Makeup Crew-cible for the Crucible. We had two students on the NAC stage last year and there is sure to be more good news that we aren’t aware of! Share it with us so we can share with everyone at OYP! If you have won an award or made a significant achievement please let us know! We would love to share it and put you onto our Wall of Fame 2014!
