A new school for young children will open soon in Decatur! Teresa Cole, co-founder of the innovative Nest Nursery School, will launch The Willow School to serve parents looking for exceptional learning opportunities and care for their young children. Conveniently located at 141 Sams Street in Decatur, the Willow School will open on March 2, 2015.
The mission…
The Willow School is an inspired school for young children, which considers the whole child with the respect and rights due to each individual. Based on a progressive model of early childhood education, The Willow School offers each member of the school community a unique educational experience, a beautiful environment rich with opportunities for growth, and respectful, nurturing relationships.
The Willow School will have classrooms for children ages 3 months through 5 years and offer a variety of enrollment options for full-time and part-time care. The Willow School will be a full day center, open from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday. The school will also offer options for half-day (9am – 1pm) and school day (8:30am – 3:30pm) for families with more flexible schedules. In addition, the school will offer summer camp programs for children up to age 8 (through 2nd grade). All programs of the school will be licensed and regulated by Bright From the Start (BFTS), Georgia’s childcare licensing agency.
The Willow School will offer:
High Quality Childcare – Parents want to know that their children are in a safe and loving environment. The Willow School will maintain low ratios and use best practices for each child in its care. Parents will rest assured that each child is respected, receiving individual attention and, above all, are well-loved.
A Progressive Model of Early Childhood Education – The Willow School is inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy and will base its educational practices on the philosophies of the Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood education.
Highly Qualified Educators – The Willow School will seek out and employ educators who are experienced, educated and, most importantly, those who love to work with young children.
Time Exploring Nature – Being in and connecting to the natural world has unlimited benefits for young children. Each day at The Willow School will include time to explore nature.
Language, Music and Art – The arts are an integral part of well-rounded experiences, especially for young children. At The Willow School, language, music, art will be integrated into each day.
Wholesome, Nutritious Meals and Snacks – Proper nutrition is essential for development of the body and the brain during the precious first years of life. The Willow School will provide a fresh vegetarian menu for meals and snacks with whole foods obtained from local and organic sources, such as Dekalb Farmer’s Market and local CSAs.

Enrollment Begins Now!
Preparations are underway and The Willow School is on track for its opening day on March 2, 2015. The new school space is under renovation, but we hope to be able to give tours soon.
