2016 sees the 300th anniversary of the birth of master landscaper Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, renowned for the creation of breathtaking pastoral settings, and Wiltshire is home to a number of his greatest horticultural masterpieces including Bowood House, Longleat House, Corsham Court and Lacock Abbey .

We have put together a suggested two-day itinerary 'The Genius of Capability Brown' so group tours can be themed accordingly in celebration of the anniversary of this amazing man.

Fam Trip News

VisitWiltshire hosted a group of 22 journalists last month on a pan-Wiltshire familiarisation visit.  A wide range of media attended including journalists from Daily/Sunday Express, Trinity Mirror and travel trade publications. Hosted in conjunction with Coach Tourism Council the VisitWiltshire fam trip showcased many of the fabulous things to see and do in the area.  The highlights included Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral and Magna Carta, Bowood House, Lacock Abbey, STEAM Museum, Lydiard Park, Bradford on Avon, National Trust’s Mompesson House and Arundells; the latter was considered to be a real hidden gem for Wiltshire!

A week later VisitWiltshire hosted yet another fam visit but this time for a group of 14 tour operators and group travel organisers.  We received some very positive feedback with the majority saying they expect to bring groups of day visitors (and staying visitors) back to Wiltshire as a direct result of the VisitWiltshire trip.

Working closely with our partners VisitWiltshire will continue to host media and trade familiarisation visits to showcase the county with all it has to offer contributing to the upward trend in visitor numbers and ensuring it is well and truly on the map!
