These are dynamic times for our Waverly business community. Transportation and other infrastructure improvement projects are making the area safer and more accommodating for commerce. Multiple new residential and commercial construction projects are dotting the landscape and studies show continued population growth. So what can we, as business leaders, do to keep up with all this activity and position our companies to ride the wave of growth and prosperity? My suggestion is quite straightforward – join the Waverly Chamber.

Membership in the Chamber provides unparalleled opportunities to connect with peers, current and prospective clients and partners up and down our supply chains to keep our lines of communication open. To me, the Chamber stands out as our area’s premier business-enabling and -advocacy organization.

As a citizen of our community, you have the opportunity to enjoy Concerts in Kohlman Park, Christmas Greetings on Main, Ridiculous Days and many other fun and exciting events for our community.  I also would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful job that so many community volunteers did in organizing RAGBRAI in our city this past summer.  We have so much to be proud of and it is all because of the people who make up this wonderful community.

Regular meetings, conferences and other activities provide extraordinary opportunities to grow our networks and gain new insights for addressing the common challenges facing all of us in business today. By working together as chamber members, we have a much stronger voice with our elected leaders as they contemplate policy revisions and new rules and regulations that create greater certainty and an improved environment for business in Waverly.

We are also excited to bring back Project LEAD to Waverly in 2015! This professional development series is designed to foster community awareness while developing individual leadership skills. The program gives leaders a broader view of civic leadership responsibilities and opportunities through direct contact with people who shape the city of Waverly. For more information, see the attached link to this article.

Although it may sound cliché, there really is strength in numbers. I think that’s especially true with the Chamber. This Chamber and your business community need you! Renew, join anew, and reach out and encourage the companies you do business with regularly to join as well.
The Chamber offers you a seat at the community’s most important business table – whether your business is a small manufacturer or service provider, or something a bit bigger. I look forward to visiting with you at a Business After Hours or other Chamber event, and seeing your company’s name in the Chamber’s continuously updated membership directory!
