The latest UN Habitat Report states that women make up the majority of the world's poor — up to 70% in some countries. Millions of women and girls living in low-income urban communities across the world have to face gender-based violence, social isolation or a lack of basic social services. Safety is a basic human right. More and more people in developing countries are moving from rural areas into cities which is why finding effective safety solutions for women and girls is becoming increasingly urgent.
