Moores River Drive Project

Mt. Hope Avenue to Waverly Road

Start Date: April 7, 2014
Expected Completion: November 2014
  • Goose deterrent fence will be installed this week.
  • The pedestrian fencing adjacent the wetlands and remaining seawall is scheduled for installation during the last week of November.
  • Lansing BWL will be installing street lights removed during construction.
  • Due to harsh winter weather, remaining restoration, such as planting, will be completed this spring.

Jackson National Life

Okemos and Sandhill Road Sewer Extension

In order to provide sanitary service for the new Jackson National Life Development, a new sanitary pump station, force main and gravity sewer is being constructed. The Jackson National Life campus is serviced by the City of Lansing as part of a 425 agreement between the City of Lansing and Alaiedon Township.  When completed, the sanitary sewer improvements will be owned, operated and maintained by the City of Lansing.

Southside Extension (South Lansing Pathway)

Start Date: May 5, 2014
Expected Completion: December 1, 2014
  • The Southside Extension  is completely paved!
  • All pedestrian ramps have been installed.
  • Asphalt and patching around the pedestrian crossing will be completed this week.
  • Bollards are being installed this week.
  • Seeding will likely be completed next spring due to the cold weather.

Sanitary Sewer Siphon #11 Replacement Project

Start Date: May 12, 2014
Expected Completion: November 2014
  • All underground utility work, including construction of the new cast-in-place manhole structure, is now complete and the new sanitary sewer siphon is operational.
  • Due to the harsh winter weather, all restoration, including asphalt road paving and construction of curb and gutter, will be completed in the spring.
  • The Beech Street Bridge and closed section of E. Elm Street will reopen by Monday, November 24, 2014. 
  • Completion of this project has resulted in a new three pipe sewer siphon under the Red Cedar River, which will allow increased flow capacity.

30th Annual Silver Bells in the City

  • There will be travel lane reductions and street closures in effect on Friday, November 21, 2014 for the 30th Annual Silver Bells in the City.
  • The 200 North Washington block will be closed for the Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) Toy Mill. Preparation will begin around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014. The Toy Mill is scheduled to be removed on Monday, November 24, 2014. 

Curbside Textile Recycling

Curbside textile recycling is set to begin December 1, 2014.
