Congratulations to Mrs. Bretz and Ms. Healy’s classes for winning the Box Tops and Labels classroom challenge. As a school wide we raised $1000 and many Labels for Education points that we use to purchase balls for the playground. A special thank you to our Middle School Leadership Team for their help bundling the Box Tops. Please continue to collect and bring in your Box Tops and Labels. We will have another classroom challenge starting in February. Thank you for your support.

Dear Bobcats,
The holiday’s are a reason to remember this joyous season of continuing the spirit of giving and sharing the glee of every individual we encounter on our campus. Our Beechwood community is tight-knit and woven together by an incredible bond of all the many people who dedicate their lives to the future of our children. It’s with assurance that I am confident in entrusting our students to amazing educators and parents who go beyond the call of duty to elevate our potential for success. The human spirit compels us to look beyond ourselves to better the lives of others. I am blessed to share the load and give thanks to all the wonderful contributors and donors who envelop their lives to bring hope to our future. Tidings of gratitude to all my PTSA Executive Board Volunteers, Christine Monson and Jen Bernard for a fantastic Daughter Date Night Sock Hop, Maggie Weston for a spectacular Barnes & Noble Family Fun Night, The Ixmay Family, Raquel Garcia, Yevette Garza, Eisa Rosas and Jason Molino for their partnership with our Pathways of Hope and our numerous Chairs of Events for their selfless devotion.  Thank you Bobcats! Looking ahead and forward to a wonderful 2015!
Gratefully Yours,
Karen Kimoto
PTSA President

Dear Bobcat Families -
I don’t know about you but I am already in countdown mode. Even though I got a whole week to enjoy my “littles” for Thanksgiving, I am already anxious to have them hanging around the house again, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the holiday season.

If there was a soundtrack to my letters, here’s where the cheery holiday music stops with a loud record scratch. Reality sets in and I realize that the kids have finals to study for, projects to complete, and I still have work to do. Yikes!

One of my jobs is obviously the foundation. As you know, our campaign was incredibly successful. We aregrateful to all the families that contributed but we fell short of our goal. In addition to that, several programs that we fund have increased in cost. This combination leaves our budget short by $40,000. Youmay have seen a blue postcard come home about this. The foundation feels so strongly about these programs that we are coming to you and asking for your support. We hope you will open your heart and give a tax deductible gift to the foundation.

I don’t think I really understood how our programs affect everyone. For example, without Class Size Reduction in the lower grades, where would those additional students go in grade 3 – 5? This concept had never occurred to me. The foundation truly touches every student.

At this time of giving, we hope Beechwood comes to mind and you consider giving the gift of education. You can help by dropping a check off in the office until December 19th or go to TeamBeechwood.org and click on the Donate Now button. Anyone can donate and all amounts are appreciated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, any of our foundation board members or our advisor, Mrs. Graham. We would be more than happy to address them.

There is other exciting news about the foundation. We are pursuing grants, planning a Great Gatsby Dinner and Auction at the Richard Nixon Library and updating our website (oh yeah! this is going to be great). I hope to have more updates for you in January but as the season and year whisks by, I better start on the rest of my list…

Thank you for your support. I don’t need Thanksgiving to say I am so very grateful for the community I get to live in, that my children get to go to school in and that we get to be a part of…but the holidays are always a nice time to reach out and let others know that it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for supporting me, the foundation board, and Beechwood School.

On behalf of the board, we would like to wish you a very happy holiday season as well as a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Hello Hot Chocolate (maybe),
Nimmi Richards
Beechwood School Foundation

Beechwood PTSA is a proud supporter of Pathways of Hope.  Our school does an annual Pathways of Hope Collection Toy and Food Drive that helps make the holidays a little better and brighter for locals in need. This year's drive runs through  Thursday, December 4. There will be a drop off area at the front of the school on Wednesday and Thursday.

Please bring new, unwrapped toys ($10 value); baby and teen items (needed most!); canned goods and non-perishable foods. Gift cards will also be accepted this year. Items can be dropped off in the boxes in your students' classrooms or the box in the office.

If you'd like to make a monetary donation, checks can be made out to Pathways of Hope, (please include "Beechwood PTSA" on the memo line). Checks can be dropped off to the school office.

Please click the highlighted Pathways of Hope above to visit their website for details on all that they do for our community. If you have any questions about Beechwood's drive please contact
Jana Ixmay at skool_teech@yahoo.com.
