Highlights from Bristol CLT

The Annual General Meeting was a great success. Keith Cowling reflected on the challenges and successes experienced by the Board over the past year. Mark Bradshaw, Deputy Mayor, answered a number of questions from BCLT members, reiterated the councils support for BCLT and pledged to engage with site finding. LED Architects presented their designs for Broadhempston CLT and gave us their tips for managing self build projects. Two new Board members were elected at the meeting: Edurne Urzelai and Bridget Petty. The BCLT Board is delighted to welcome them on board!

The Board is pleased to announce that BCLT has been selected
as one of eleven Urban CLT's to take part in The National CLT Networks two year Urban CLT Project.
In practical terms this means money, support and training to help us get our next project at Shaldon Road off the ground. This project will see plots for custom build offered to members for part ownership and co-housing apartments for shared ownership set within a site offering plenty of communal external space for gardens, allotments etc. Get in touch If you are interested in being housed here or simply want to support the project.

Take our 2 minute survey to win a copy of the ‘Housebuilder’s Bible’
Lastest Edition. RRP: £25.

During Bristol CLT’s launch event in 2011, we collected data from attendees around housing needs to inform future projects and to identify preferred locations.

Bristol CLT’s membership has increased substantially since then and this new survey will capture a greater detail of information than we have previously collected in order to inform future projects and to assess demand for particular models such as self build. This will assist Bristol CLT in developing future projects.

If you wish your name to be added to the draw to win a copy of the Housebuilder’s Bible, please include your name with the survey. Names will be drawn out of a virtual hat on *Friday 19^th December*. The winner will be notified by email.

What's happening at Fishponds?
The 325 Fishponds Road development group is made up of future residents who will be working on their own homes as part of the self finish element of the project. At a meeting of the group in November, a range of topics were discussed at this meeting including: what skills there was within the group and the importance of the skills audit we are undertaking, and working hours on site. A representative of the contractor was there to answer questions and BCLT's chair Keith Cowling presented the options for the PV system.

Another meeting is planned for December and all being well, we should be on site by January 2015!

If you are interested in a three bedroom house at 325 Fishponds Road for shared ownership at a cost of £118,046, please get in touch.
Shaldon Road
BCLT happy to be working with the local community in Lockleaze on development proposals for a back land site off Shaldon Road. BCLT hopes to deliver an exemplary scheme including homes for social rent, custom build plots for self builders and self finish co-housing apartments on a shared ownership basis together with allotments and communal space.

Last year we engaged Architype, the Uk's leading architects for sustainable buildings, to undertake the consultation process . Three meetings have now been held and a wealth of information gathered from local residents.

We have now set up a steering group which will meet regularly to steer the design process. The first meeting will take place on:
Tuesday 18th November at 6.30pm – 8pm at the Lazy Dog, 112 Ashley Down Rd, Bristol BS7 9JR

If you are interested in joining the steering group or want to express your interest in the project either as a resident or supporter, please get in touch.
